Neither guy is worthy of a six, but I think McKelvin is more of a sure thing. I'd love if we were able to trade back, accumulate a few more picks to address depth, and take a risk on a guy like Cromartie. I don't know that I'd be comfortable just taking him at six. I'm in love with his athleticism but lets' not forget the level of competition he faced. Even Ricardo Colclough looked great at the Senior Bowl. -X-
Ouch! Comparing Colclough to Rogers-Cromartie!??! Personally I like corner backs who are physical and are solid run defenders. That being said, watching DRC at the Senior Bowl, I am convinced he is going to be a star cover corner in the NFL. And he showed you will come up to make a tackle if he needs to. If we were to take a corner, I would go with DRC even with the No. 6 pick. I'm not saying that's my preference with No. 6, but if Gholston, C. Long and McFadden are all gone I might be screaming for us to take DRC.
Piggybacking what Murrell said, that physicality is really the major reason that I think DRC is the best corner in this draft. Nowadays the best corners need to have top level athletic ability as well as a physical nature. That's the one section of McKelvin's game that really concerns me, which is why what DRC has shown at the Senior Bowl week and in other workouts stands out. The level of competition concern is valid, but the fact that he was a dominant player does lessen it a bit.
