Actually it is 7 in a row. Oh well, we only needed one. Lets get it today. Most of these games could have gone either way. Still have the best record in the NL.
It is depressing here in Philly with this fairweather fanbase down my neck, Ollie please end this silliness today
eh what can they really say, the Phils are fighting for their playoff lives while we have this division wrapped up. You could say alot about Philly fans but they are not fairweather fans.
More nonsense in the paper from Willie and the boys. Willie: "Wagner told me needed a day." Wagner: "I was fine." Willie says Reyes wasn't smart on the basepaths, but sees no reason to talk to him about it. The moron ump apparently tossed Anderson in the 9th saying "Every time you come to bat you complain about the strike zone," but nothing in the paper about Willie tearing him a new one for being both unprofessional and blind. IMO this team just doesn't seem to care as much as they should.
And it seems as if the Phillies are the wake up call each time they play. Maybe they'll win 9 of 10 again after this and wrap up the division, who knows...
Nope you are dead wrong to a point, when it comes to football, they live and die with the Eagles, with any other team there it is a countdown till football season starts in the 1st presence of something going wrong
I agree that football is the main sport in philly but the fans are passionate about all 4 philly teams. I'd rank them. Eagles Flyers ( more so when hockey was good but still #2) Sixers Phillies
Maybe yes, maybe no. The Mets won 9 of 10 after being swept in Philly in August, of course, but they lost 9 of 12 after being swept at home by Philly in June, and lost 6 of 8 after winning the first three games of a series in Philly at the end of June. I think the expectation of a magical post-Philly wakeup call is misplaced. On the other hand, the Mets play 6 games against Washington (66-82), 7 games against Florida (65-83), and 1 game against St. Louis (70-77) after today, which is why they should still win the division. That doesn't necessarily say too much about the postseason, however.
Eh I will take regular season performances like a grain of salt when it comes to the postseason, I learned that from last year, however to spin yesterday in a positive light it is nice to see Pedro pitching that well yesterday
No doubt it is a huge football city but they are passionate about the other teams as well. I've been in the area for almost 10 years now and have come to appreciate the the Philly fanbase.. Anyway, Go Mets.
I'll actually go ahead and assume that Wagner is the one lying here because he actually seems to be even less intelligent then Willie. This has happened before though so I'm not sure what the problem is. Cy Eaton is on the mound today so the Mets should be happy to get 2 runs in 7 IP or so.
un fucking real. we actually got the double dip this inning with perez walking the pitcher AND jose reyes booting the ball to allow 2 runs in. all we need now is the utley 3 run HR to complete the inning.
jimmy rollins last 3 ABs 2 triples and 4 runs in on 3 mets errors. the mets must really despise perez or something he's got like 20 unearned runs this year.
19, in fact, in only 165 innings. That works out to one unearned run every 8.7 IP. Compare that to Maine (1 unearned run every 24.9 IP), Hernandez (1 unearned run every 48.0 IP), and Glavine (1 unearned run every 63.3 IP). That actually is consistent with the idea that pitchers who have bad control result in fielders back on their heels, but there's still no excuse. Beltran with the 3-run jack to tie it up!
