Umm…. 3 for $69M. You gave 3 for $51M $18M shouldn’t have prevented you from signing him. It has to be that he just wanted any easy route to winning, yes?

I’ve been waiting for the picture of what Stearns was doing to come into focus but so far I don’t like what he’s doing and I have no confidence in him! Not see the vision.

Breaking: Edwin Díaz and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a deal, a source tells @jorgecastillo. The contract is for three years and $69 million, sources tell @JeffPassan.

The back-to-back champs are adding one of the best closers in baseball.

I'm told the Mets offered Edwin Díaz three years and $66 million (with slight deferrals) and indicated they had some room to improve that figure. Díaz chose the Dodgers' offer of three years and $69 million instead.

It his understanding that Diaz didn’t go back to the Mets to see if they’d match. So you gotta believe he wanted out, and a chance to win a championship.

Well, if Diaz didn't even try to get the Mets to match or beat the deal, then you can't really blame Stearns (I guess everyone wants to just throw their glove out there and win a championship). Still, this has been a terrible offseason so far - the team is clearly worse than they were last year, and Alonso seems halfway out the door.
