Now the Jets need a starting RT and LG. You can't count on Slauson coming off this injury and coming into this new system to start, and you definitely can't count on those other two morons to handle RT.
This is bad news - just the sort we didn't need. I just hope he gets back fit enough to play again. It just shows how much effort he put in, to play with an injury like that.
Not really. Turner is small for a man blocking scheme. He is better-suited to a zone blocking scheme, and even there isn't that good. His best asset was his versatility and toughness. I say let him walk. The Jets could possibly sign Geoff Schwartz of Carolina as a FA. He has played both RT and RG. That's better versatility than Turner. He's 6'6" 331 lbs and only 25 or 26. Turner is 27, 6'4" 308.
He still won't be more affordable. In fact, with the Jets having more of a need, his agent would be likely to drive the price higher.
Hope he recovers..you guys act as if this dude has been in the league years.. lol..so much hating. He was drafted in 09 and shown improvement. To not have this guy would just be stupid.
5 or 6 months means he should be back right around the start of training camp. More importantly, another mystery solved. I wonder what play that he had to block for 10 seconds for Sanchez he was actually hurt on.
if the demands of playing the OL destroyed the arm his was born with, what will it do to a surgically repaired arm? is the surgery to his throwing arm? haha. i know after 'some' surgeries the joint(s) is actually stronger than before, like neck fusion for example. but i suspect he's never going to be elite, or even close, after this. plus his last name sounds like some kind of french sandwich meat so he was probably doomed from the start.
CRAP.... well that just changed the landscape a bit for the draft. i was having a nice private fantasy about drafting 2 new LB's within the 1st 3 picks...... now regardless of how he heals we almost have to draft OL with another early pick. and it may have to be in round 1 so u can be almost sure he can step right in and be effective. unless they can land a FA starter, not backup. sheeeet.
We all killed Slauson last season and this goes to show you should be careful about critcizing players without knowing all the facts. Next thing we'll hear is that Matt Mulligan played the entire season with his head up his ass.
You really need to add all the info on the injury to the opening post so people don't go overboard. Piaints a much brighter picture than the headline.
Looks like the o-line was in pieces all season, Mangold looked liked he struggled to recover properly from that ankle sprain and Moore coming off hip surgery now slauson looks like he will be the bionic man next year. It's a wonder they provided any protection to Sanchez at all. Proves other then hunter they pulled their tripe out in effort so fair play to them.
I thought Slauson played fairly well last season, not to bad at all considering the injury. The kid has some growing pains just like every other young player, I don't know why people are acting like he is so bad though. He really isn't that bad at all.
You all need to pump the breaks a little bit. As long as the team manages to win games they should win and get in the playoff then we are all good. It's next man up and we will find ways to win games. Look at the giants were able to this year. As long we are healthy and playing well for the post season we are A11 g000d !
