the only real issue is the q.b. if sanchez was playing up to his contract we would be winning and no one woud be freaking out about the cap. that said, i am not thinking this is a competitive team in 2013, all i am saying is the starters we are losing aren't going to be missed and some of the replacements have aready played on this team.i keep hearing how 9 starters are gone and we are 20 mil over the cap like we will have to get volunteers to play for us. i am just saying its not that bad.
...also consider that some states like Miami have zero income tax. That means that states like NY/NJ have to offer FA's 8-10% more money just to level the playing field. If the Jets and Jags are bidding for the same player, we'd have to offer him 10% more just to be on an apples to apples comparison with any offer made by the Jags. And if we played in NYC, add another 10%. Available cap dollars for each team should be adjusted to account for state and local income taxes the player will have to pay. Teams without state and local income taxes have in effect 20% more cap room than other teams.
I have to say that with the exception of Revis, and to a MUCH smaller amount Keller, I do not think that there is any player we are likely to lose that cannot be replaced by a rookie and offer similar performance. IMO one of Idzik's roles will be to protect Rex from himself, which means getting rig of veteran players that Rex would start just out of loyalty. He needs to be forced to coach up and start young players and I think he can be successful with that on defense. Our draft and offseason should be focused on fixing offense especially at QB. I want them to dump Sanchez but it sounds like Idzik is not leaning that way. Although it would be the best thing to do to protect Rex from himself. If Sanchez is on the team, Rex will favor him pure and simple regardless of preseason performance. It will certainly be an interesting three months of player moves through the draft.
