No way, he's basically a set-up man who is making 12 mil. At the end of next season, the Mets should have a ton of open payroll with K-rod, Beltran, Perez, Castillo and probably others coming off the books.
K-Rod is a classic example of why you don't give big money or big assets for relief pitchers. They're just too volatile to make a huge commitment to--it's very rare that even the best closers go 5 years without having a terrible season mixed in.
