Yeah, In a previous thread I said he was pitching very well. But you can only goto the well so many times. Ain't that right Joe? Cut it to 3 and gave 1 right back...ugh
Murrell pointed it out, but 5 runs? I called that and any Yanks fan could of seen that from a mile away
This is already ugly, just extended. Sorry guys, this year is toast. I hate to say that on July 1st, but there's no way this team climbs out of this hole at this point. UNLESS, there is a big change within the 2 days before and after the break. If Joe and Brian are out of work, and someone brings a new attitude in, then there is an outside chance, but that's doubtful. There are a handful of guys who still give a damn, and most of them are going back to San Fran for a few days next week. I didn't watch a second today, just like yesterday. I flipped on 880 just in time to hear it was 8-4, and immediately turned it off. I can't do this to myself. They are outright embarassing. Abreu's good couple weeks was a fluke. He's just not that good at this point. Sorry to all the Bobby fans, but he has a terrible eye at the plate. Matsui is my least favorite person to wear pinstripes since Jack Clark. I don't care if he brings in Japanese revenue, he's a waste. Ever since that broken wrist he hasn't been the player we brought in. Cano is not the player Yankees fans thought he would be. He's lazy, and he suffers from the most severe lack of patience at the plate I think I've ever seen. I refuse to blame our pitching for anything at this point. I'm impressed they even take the mound anymore. (Yeah, I know, they're getting paid, but whatever.) ------------------ So I heard Posada had something to say about some guys already packing it in. Can anyone verify that? Doesn't surprise me. He's really only playing the role of Captain Obvious at this point. So what to do? Start the trade wheel? Move some of these guys and try to get some minor league talent for the future? This year is trash, you can't fix it. There's too much raw talent on this team for it to be such an utter failure. If they can't win with this team, they're not winning anything this year. The worst part of all this? We're saying goodbye to one of the greatest players to ever don a MLB uniform. Thanks for the memories Alex. Good luck wherever you go, unless it's Boston.
I doubt they can make any moves to get rid of people now. With 4 million tickets sold all they will do is piss these people off and maybe keep them away for years to come. They will just play it out no matter how ugly it gets. The best thing they could do at this point is fire Torre and Cashman and at least make a token show of trying by bringing in 1 or 2 more players. Hopefully those with contracts ending this year.
That's actually a pretty good point. The only thing I would say in response is that they had better know their ticket holder composition. If 2 million of those tickets are sold to long-timers, they aren't going to be happy to watch this crap for a few more months, with no hope of things improving next year. I do think the first step is for at least one head to roll. While I prefer it's Torre's first, Cashman will serve the short-term purpose. These guys need to understand this will not be tolerated. Sadly, any market that may have existed for players like Abreu and Matsui has gone dry. Is everyone happy we didn't trade for Dye now?
