But its actually an area where we can affect positive change--hell, we had Thomas Morstead and he was great.
now that he was cleared of criminal charges, team should sign the punt god. after watching today, how much would cager and pinnock look instead of barrios and joyner? with white unable to play, why isn't Streveler active? jets are one hit or picks away from Flacco? ugh!
Did you see the Patriot's game where the punt was returned for the TD? How is that return on the guy who kicked the ball down the middle of the field over fifty yards? Scapegoating is no way to make personnel decisions. Even the game today, I find it hard to place all the blame on the guy who had to kick fast because he was kicking out of the end zone with only one step. The coverage broke down both times. Mann has shanked some balls this year but looking at his overall performance, it's better than the offense or the defense. The convenient guy to point the finger at is not always the right guy.
I don’t particularly blame Mann for the return TDs but he’s got a huge issue with the touchbacks. It’s great that he can land the ball inside the 5 yard line but it’s no use if the ball is continually trickling into to end zone. His leg only has two settings - mega-power and shank.
The punt against NE needed to go out of bounds. The coverage didn’t break down yesterday. Mann’s punt didn’t give them any chance to cover it. It was a low, line drive punt. Braden Mann sucks and consistently fucks the Jets with terrible field position. Look at where the Jets start their drives compared to the opponent. It’s a JOKE. Jets fans need to stop defending bad players.
How hard is it to find a reliable punter? There are only 100 or so undrafted out of the NCAA every year.
There is some merit to this argument, as he is tied for 4 most punts in the NFL with 70. That poor bastard in Denver is getting abused.
Is he officially this loss's scapegoat? We have one each time. Berrios: Counsel Braden Mann on how to get through the week. It would have been nice for our offense to move a bit past their own goal line after our the Lions gifted us a 7 minute drive without scoring. Punting with your heel at the back of the end zone adds some difficulty to the kick.
No. He’s been dog shit all year and it’s not hard to find a punter off the scrap heap. He’s been the punter on 2/3 of the punt returns in the NFL this year. Both of which cause by him out punting his coverage unit and not giving them a chance. He consistently shanks punts and gives opponents starting field position on the 20 or more. Shitty special teams has been a big reason why this team is 2-5 in the last 7. Stop excusing shitty players.
I'm not saying Mann is good. But wasn't the returned punt yesterday snapped from like the 5 yard line? Maybe if we could have gotten out of the shadow of our own goalposts...?
