By this theory, why are guys like Clemens, Glavine, Maddux and Johnson still pitching? Some guys might be content and retire at 35, but the ego, competitive spirit and guarantee of big money keeps many into there late 30s and early 40s.
Because they started 20 years ago when the money wasn't what it is now. I'm talking about the pitchers coming up who would have a chance if they stuck around. It's not just the money, it's how games are pitched today which I mentioned earlier. Money is only part of it.
Why are 300 wins being discussed in a thread about Igawa? There's a whole thread about 300 wins just a couple threads down from this one.
huh? they were talking about randy johnson maybe getting 300 wins that's why I posted that. on topic: igawa totally sucks but just like the thug farnsworthless no deal, it came down to money. cashman doesn't want to lose that posting fee unless he gets top players back. if he keeps igawa, he can say the posting fee didn't go for naught (even though igawa may never be a contributor for the yankees)
Yeah I realized later that people were already discussing the 300 wins in here, which made no sense to me. And the situation with Cashman is my big complaint with him. It's always about not just accepting something was a mistake. As I said, my biggest issue like this was Pavano. Without even actively shopping him, Cashman got a call from Colorado about him. Instead of working something, anything, out, Cashman decided to make his deal work at all costs. Well, here we are, 5 months later, and Carla is done. It's a recurring theme, and it's frustrating.
