Hey ding dong...... Ding a ling. Brady sucks against the pressure.....manning not so much.......HOf brady is not
Mr step into a slimjim. If you poke your head into the pats pulpit article referencing PFF. You'd see Tommy Boy has issues.....they need to take this into huge consideration when you want to be called greatest. My skirt chaser beats all your schmucks
Yeah, I just continued the convo you were having. Technically responding to a comment before that one. I agree a Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady argument is a waste because both are 1st Ballot Hall of Famers, but I find it hard to believe anyone actually finds Brady better. Not a big deal, but Peyton was hands down better. Do you remember preparing for the Colts on your schedule? No. You think "We are playing Peyton Manning." At least, that is how I felt. I never felt "We are playing Tom Brady." It was always the Patriots. You have to prepare for Belichick, that defense, and then also try to keep Brady and the offense in check. The only exception to the rule was the 2015 Broncos who had the #1 D in the NFL for a broken down, old Peyton. And look: He won the Super Bowl! I guess defense actually wins championships and not just QB play. Wow! Fans just can't figure that out I guess.
It's funny, because I have the exact same sentiment about Brady being better. Both guys have put up unreal passing statistics and Manning certainly has Brady (and everyone else) beat there, but Brady has always been a better big-game player and he's always been better at the end of a game after not playing well for most of it. Again, if I had one game to win to save my life, the only QB I start over Brady is Montana. To me, Brady is Montana 2.0, but in a era where it's inordinately easier to play the position efficiently.
and i'll say it again.....for that one game, are you also getting Belichick (with cheating) and/or Walsh? they were the 2 most innovative coaches i've ever seen. but you have to separate the coach from that game if you are just comparing QB's, and Manning was great independent of coach. he made all of them successful, and not the other way around. if team success is all about the QB, and Br*dy is Mr.Clutch, how do you explain Manning being 3-1 vs Br*dy in championship games? i cannot grasp this "wins" logic when it dismisses so many other factors, and it's so clearly flawed in this particular comparison. i also find it hard to believe anyone outside of NE could possibly think Br*dy is better based on this logic.
I never wrote, or even implied, that team success is "all about the QB." In fact, I have routinely argued that utilizing "wins" (a team statistic) to assess the merits of a quarterback (an individual) is fundamentally illogical. My preference for Brady has nothing to do with how many "wins" he has compared to Manning, nor does it have to do with their "head to head" (again, this isn't singles Tennis) record. As I have already alluded to, I find that line of "reasoning" to be severely flawed. Once again, I think Brady was better because he was considerably better in big games, had markedly fewer outright stinkers in big games, and was generally better at the end of games in which he hadn't played particularly well, overall (That last attribute is something I consider to be very important for NFL quarterbacks). Both guys have amassed an amazing litany of passing statistics, and, in my opinion, the tie-breaker comes down to how each guy generally performed in the most crucial games/situations of their respective careers. While both guys have had legendary performances in big games, Brady has had more of them. If I were playing a game tomorrow, I think a prime Brady would give me a slightly better chance to win it than a prime Manning. Again, it has nothing to do with the records of the TEAMS each guy played for.
Prime Manning over Prime Brady is an even easier argument. Peyton at his best is the best All-Time. Of course this current discussion is who is the best All-Time QB so you have to go by their entire careers, where the edge still goes to Peyton. I find it crazy that @slimjasi says team stats don't make the QB yet continues to say Brady is better. Team stats are pretty much the only way you can argue Brady is better. I agree it's a flawed way to do it, but it's all Brady supporters have.
Sorry, don't agree. Prime Manning was a wonderful, wonderful player. But, there are guys who I think were better. Montana, Brady, and possibly Marino. (And yeah, I know, Peyton broke all of Marino's records. But, Marino played in a much tougher era and, for my money, was as good of a pure passer as has ever lived) Not true at all. They both have amazing stats. The fact that Peyton has even more amazing stats doesn't overcome the fact that, to my eyes, Brady was a significantly better big game player and significantly better at playing great in the 4th quarter after not playing well for most of the game. This fallacy that Brady "only has wins on his side" is actually quite silly.
Yeah, it just shows we think differently. Take Super Bowl XLIX: You probably see it as Brady was down 24-14 and came back to throw 2 TD (against a beat up and injury plagued secondary) to lead the Patriots to a 28-24 win. Whereas everyone else sees the Seahawks handed the Patriots the win by not handing the ball to Lynch at the goal line. I guess it just depends how people look at things. I respect Brady more than most non-Patriots fans, but I don't see how he is considered better than most of the all-time greats by some. I actually felt 2015 was one of his best years. Played with a chip on his shoulder.
