100% true but find me a QB who has won a playoff game with FG kicker missing 3 FGs...... The Jets were the #1 defense to, I watched Peyton beat a Ravens team once with only FGs and he went on to win a Super Bowl that year.
If this was ever possible to have happened, whatever fucking reason it didnt, was definitely our fault.
If you didn't get it yet: If Sanchez played for SD with Brian Schottenheimer as the OC, they would have won minimum 5 SBs by now. I shit you not.
I don't watch every game but I saw his 2 biggest games. did nothing at Cincy and was terrible at Denver in playoffs last year. I am not wowed by meaningless #s like most fans are. Kaeding missed 2 makeable FGs and he deserves his share of the blame but they kept settling for FGs and the biggest moment of that game was his awful decision on that INT out of his EZ. That set up the go ahead TD for the Jets, a lead we would never lose. he did his normal thing by tacking on some late yardage against a prevent but he was the biggest culprit for SD. everyone will blame the K and the K didn't help but the QB was the biggest problem. Our QB didn't make the big mistake, SD's QB did make the big mistake. when did Luke McCown ever play in a postseason game let alone outplay Rodgers in a championship game? missed 2 makeable FGs and we missed 1. One was almost 60 yds, cannot fault him for missing that kick. Peyton was carried by his run game and D that postseason outside of the 2nd half of the title game. Peyton is another poor big game QB. Not like Rivers but he's not a good postseason QB. we were #1 in rankings, our #1 D folded in big spots time after time after time including a week later where they blew a double digit lead in the title game.
Rivers could play another 10 years and win a couple SBs but junc will still be arguing he's overrated because at one point in his career his team lost a couple playoff games. Nevermind he was coached by a guy who struggles in the playoffs. Nevermind that his kicker blew it. Nevermind that his HOF RB traditionally went MIA for him in those games..... etc. Junc decided to hate Rivers so no matter how he looks now or what he accomplishes in the future, he's overrated because of a couple games from 4+ years ago.
Rivers is incredibly accurate and very consistent. This organization would kill to have a player of his caliber. We haven't had a consistent QB here in FOREVER.
if he does that I'll change my mind but the man is in his 11th season and has 1 title game app where he played horribly and made it b/c his backup led the GW TD drive. he's had multiple coaches and yet he still stinks in postseason- stunk under Marty, stunk under Norv, stunk under McCoy the K made him throw that INT to Leonhard? the K made him go 3 and out after NE tied the game in '06? made him settle for a 54 yd FG? made him not lead SD to a FG in '07 title game? forced him to throw 2 INTs? forced him to put up 10 pts in competitive portion of div rd loss at Pitt in '08? forced him to not lead his O to a single pt until the 4th qtr at Den last year? Interesting how that works out. if he completely changes and starts winning big games I'll change my mind. I will believe it when I see it but until then I have seen this movie before.
My whole thing is, if you are a good QB, it comes down to the team. Things broke right for Eli Manning, if he was on any other NFL team he does not have 2 super bowls, heck he might not even have one. I think Rivers is a good QB, the stars just never aligned for him, some if it his fault, buts its still a team game. He is only one player on one side of the ball, he does not even control half of the game (Defense 45%, Offense 45%, Special teams 10%). They would have beaten the Colts in 2009, I dont know if they would have beaten the Saints but it would crazy matchup; Brees vs San Diego.
Just wait and see Junc, I picked San Diego to get to the AFC Championship and fall to New England, but currently their is no chance that happens. I think San Diego is going all the way to the Super Bowl this year right now. If he could get a championshp then he would bump his status into the top 5.
Its like the Romo arguement, there are people on this forum saying that if he did win a Super Bowl this year, he would still be a choker? What? no? it would all get washed away. One Super Bowl is the key for any QB, you dont see anyone questioning Rodgers or Brees. The only guy they are demanding to win a second is Peyton, only because he is trying to place himself into the category as the greatest of all time which he needs a second to get into that area.
Rivers had excellent talent around him, there's no reason he shouldn't have made a SB or 2 at the very least. To not even have a title game app where he finished the game is alarming. we'll see. if he leads them to a SB title that changes everything. I don't think there is a chance in the world it happens but we'll see.
Rodgers and Brees have only 1 SB but in playoff losses they still tend to give their teams a chance which is not what Peyton, Romo, Rivers, etc... have done.
if a man grows breasts and a vagina is he still a man? we can talk hypotheticals all we want, let's see it happen first.
