Aaah its never the off season without a bit of CP bashing!! Guy was classy throughout his stay and even when he had the chance to really gloat when he came back with the fins he was decent. Suffered his knocks and had too many injuries but through the history of this franchise and some of the clowns and prima donnas we have had to endure the total oppoiste is CP and he deserves a mention as one of the classiest and hardest working players we had. Sanchez is a step up in potential and his ceiling is high , but why does every player we let go or lose have to be slaughtered??
Mangini: Clueless Pennington: Trying to pick Elmo up at a bar Coles: Rape eyes Graham: Taking a shit off-screen.
If ever there was a thread in which I wanted to see a junc appearance, this would be it. The only people more frustrating than those who insist Chad is still a high level QB are those who insist he never was one. Chad gave us some of the franchise's best seasons. If it weren't for his injuries, we'd have been an absolutely elite team. He's a shell of the player he once was, but that's no reason to completely denigrate him.
^Signed. If Chad had stayed healthy, this past season would NOT have been our only AFCC appearance since 1998.
You are insane, sir. Chad understands the QB position as good as any QB after maybe Peyton. He had enough tools to be a successful QB, but injuries killed him. Injuries doesn't mean Chad is terrible. Give him a break. Sanchez is a rookie and has a lot to learn. Don't tell me he is done learning, is he? Just for comparison's sake, Chad only has two season with double digit picks, max being 16 ints after his second major surgery. Sanchez threw 20 his first yr. Don't just pick a stat and say Sanchez will be the next Joe Montana. Sanchez's rookie year was right where most of us expected.
There were so many posts to address, but time was limited so I grabbed just one. I watched every Jets game he played and saw him throw way too many "touch" balls that made the receiver stop to catch or forced to unnesseccarily jump up exposing them to get smashed. Coles took many big hits because Chad would throw a light air ball when he shouldn't have. Chad had a HARD time learning to read pro defenses and grasping the speed of the game. Maybe if he was a little faster on his reads he would still be playing. First, if he couldn't at least throw the flats which is all he had, he would never have got off the bench to begin with. Second, He still wouldn't have had a impressive career because he couldn't stay off his back. Chad was unquestionably a well liked QB who underachievedand and if we had it to due all over again there is no doubt the Jets would have drafted someone different.
I never said I didn't like Chad, as a matter of fact I was stoked when we drafted him. Yet, if the Jets could have a due over I would not want them to draft Chad. Also if you read back when we drafted Chad the Jets actually didn't want Chad, the Steelers did., but the trade fell through.
The hell you say... http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d8022063d/Top-Ten-Draft-Steals-Tom-Brady BTW, your arguments still suck. Chad was f***in' awesome.
That's a nice example of selective memory you have going there, but you're just wrong. Chad didn't start hanging receivers out to dry until after his first rotator cuff injury, when he was trying to force plays that his arm wasn't able to make anymore. His release was slow and his arm strength just wasn't there, but those are physical talent and mechanics, like I said. That's what held his game back. And he didn't really start having a ton of trouble reading defenses until Schotty and Mangini got here, and they installed a radically different scheme than he was used to. But he still knew that playbook from day 1 of the 2006 season, even if he couldn't physically execute most of the plays at that point in his career. Before that point, he had been with Hackett (and Dinger for a limited 2005 disaster season until he tore his shoulder again), and he was very good at managing the game, even if he threw far too many dump-offs to please most of us. By the way, Sanchez has more trouble hitting the flats than Chad ever did, and he got off the bench as a rookie, so that part of your argument makes as little sense as the rest.
What does that have to do with anything? We're talking about what Chad did for the Jets, and what Mark might learn from watching how Chad played the game. Where does who/what/when/why/how he was drafted com into play?
JetsFan, you seem a lot like Champ. If the QB isn't a Manning clone, he's not good enough. Get your head around the game. You are a fan with an opinion, ever heard how other QBs talk about Chad?
Jets won this year because of OL and defense. They held two playoff teams under twenty in their own buildings to get to the championship game. Lets not forget Sanchez threw 20 picks, after 13 games, which would sink any team and to be fair shouldda sunk us.
I couldn't have said it better myself.. Although I was content with Chad, I was never confident about his ability to stay healthy nor his arm strength. And he always dumped passes off to avoid going lob ball deep. Sanchez will be just fine..
I am not a fan of Penny as a QB post the first shoulder surgery. To me it was obvious he had lost a lot of Zip on the ball and was handcuffed by that. That said, to think that Mark could not learn a shit ton from Penny is about as fucking stupid a coment as we've seen around here this offseason. For all his physical limitations, Chad was one of the great QBs mentaly of his Era. To try and reduce things to pure stats is about as stupid as drafting receivers solely on thier 40 times.
