^ This. LT's leadership is invaluabe and he still plays at a very high level. That said, I'm interested to see McKnight get some more action though. He looked like he finally was getting it during the buffalo game, but that was buffalo. If the Kid stays in shape during the offseason he has the skills to be a very good compliment to Greene.
People seem to forget that JT was not used as planned this year. Due to injuries he played WAY more snaps that originally intended. I would like to have him come back for 1 more season as a reduced price backup. LT will be back as he is under contract. His impact on Sanchez has been obvious. With that said, SG needs to be the clear cut starter in 2011.
JT was fairly worthless this year. But LT still has something left. As long as its not for more than a million to 1.5 million, I think LT should be brought back.
LT can come come back as the number 2 back, and hopefully we will start to see McNight get some playing time next season as well. As for JT, i'm not expecting him back. He did a nice job for us this season but we can get somebody younger and cheaper to fill his role.
I enjoyed watching both of them play this year at times. Taylor really stepped up his game in the three playoff games. During the season both Taylor and Tomlinson were used more then they should have been. Schotty ran Tomlinson into the ground. I believe next year the running backs should be Greene and Mcknight and some sort of veteran signing. Tomlinson was good in a certain role but they used him way too much.
I don't want them to resign JT. I want to see Shonn greene at #1 and mcknight #2. Let's see if mcknight improved enough to be a solid #2 back for the team. I love LT's heart and determination but he's almost on empty we need to get younger and plan for the future to make the most of the Ryan/Sanchez era.
Not too interested in either of 'em. Would rather cut away their salaries than to keep them at reduced roles.
This became so obvious as the season wore on. If anyone has all the games on tape take a look back at the season in short yardage situations that were goal line vs. situations that were short yardage on all other places on the field. At the goal line it was mostly LT. Non-goal line it was Greene. It pissed me off all year when LT was the goal line short yardage back. Even when it worked and LT scored it made ZERO sense. Greene is the pounder getting tough inside yardage. LT isn't running over anyone.
What about Trevor Pryce ??? He WHIFFED BIGTIME on Mendenhall in the backfield, I still don't know how the hell he could miss him.
Pryce is older than JT....he's done too. Guys, this team needs to get younger and faster on the Defensive front.....some of these dinosaurs like JT and Pryce need to be let go in favor of some younger talent.
I think most of the board is in consensus with this idea. Spend the first few picks on some Dline and OLB talent, the consistency from the old guys just isn't there.
On 2 separate occasions I saw SG just crush through defenders and run people over, I guess to schotty that means its time to go back to LT.
JT needs to go. LT would make a good 3rd down back but is that the role he'd have next season?? If LT comes back to have the same role as this season, I don't want him back. He ran out of gas during the ending of the regular season. He also had nothing for the Steelers. There's nothing wrong w/ that if the Jets would've simply stuck w/ Greene when LT was done. However, Schotty and/or Rex just blindly believes in LT. They've got to adjust LT role to the player on the field, not the player who earned MVP years ago.
LT should stay. Even though I hate Jason Taylor, and never wanted him here, and he did squat most of the season, putting that all aside, on an unbiased decision, he's too old. Get someone who can run.
