I thought it was out. However with that said, I'm a little tired off "the call stands." it either is a fumble or it isn't, but I don't think the default should be how it was called on the field. I think if there's any sense of doubt with regards to a turnover, it should be ruled in the offense's favor. Like tie goes to the runner. If there's doubt as to whether it's a TD then the defense should get the benefit of the doubt. I don't care what some zebra decided in the blink of an eye if fancy cameras can't decide.
Oh I'm angry at Geno. He had to slide, there is no reason for QB to run into defender head on, certainly not in the first game. The thing is I remember when fumbles were overturned on technicalities like "giving himself". Frankly I don't think it was so close they couldn't reverse the call.
The ref's on the field may have had a much better view of the play than what the camera angles show. You have to go with what the Ref saw if there is nothing to refute it.
I've watched that replay like 2 dozen times, when I was watching the game live, it looked to me like a fumble, but the side view of the replay looks more to me like his knee was down simultaneous to contact, even though it doesn't look like the ball came free until after his knee was down. Either way it seemed too close to call for me, and the dumbass should have slid anyway.
This is exactly why I hate replay. they just waste our time and still get the calls wrong too many times.
So his knee is down and then the ball comes out. Not a fumble. Douchenozzle refs. I'm angry because I lost a lot of money on the game because of half a point and so much stupid shit happened in this game, from this to dropped pick sixes, we should have crushed the spread.
The call was close regardless of the decision by the officials. I live with their call. What pisses me off is the whole goal-line sequence. Why are they resorting to gimmick plays against a team like the Raiders. Save that CJ2k / Vick / Geno on the field stuff for a top defense. If they want to mix it up put both Ivory and CJ2K on the field at the same time, not Vick. At least let Ivory try to pound the rock in before trying this crap.
It's really not a bad call, it was very close and it was called one way. The instant replay did not show hard evidence the call was incorrect, thus it stood. The Decker PI call was pretty bullshit but really I didn't think the game overall was bad.
It was a stupid play. Why with 3 beasts at RB do we do some gimmick bs play. Just hand it to Ivory or Powell and let them hammer it in. Geno needs to know he cant take hits like that.
I don't think it was a designed run, although I'd have to see the whole thing again. I thought Geno just thought he had an opening and went, so it was bad decision making not bad playcalling. I would need to see it again to be sure though.
I know some of you are against it (and probably CJ2K & Ivory as well) but I'd have loved to see Sheldon smash a few of the close ones in. Watching those DBs and Safties bounce off our 300 pound road grater is a fun thing to watch.
Maybe I'm subjective, but I see knee on the ground, contact by D before ball is out. Down by contact.
Those kinds of plays never go our way. If that was an opposing QB the call gets reversed. If Geno does it the call stands.
Seriously? And that's because the league hates Rex, right? And there is a coded text that goes out every week from NFL headquarters telling the refs who they need to target? Do you realize how pathetic this sounds?
do I care how it sounds? I have seen it way too many times. I don't think it is a conspiracy but it just seems to happen like that. his knee was clearly down, the rules expert CBS had on said it would get overturned(I have been told) and still it wasn't overturned. it happens a lot.
