Obviously, losing the two receivers that had 100 yard games the previous week to injury didn't help. But it's not like he was lighting things up before those injuries happened. In fact, that injury to Hill was largely Smith's fault. Throwing into double coverage behind the receiver is a sign of promise, apparently.
Agreed.....and if Sanchez ever takes a team to the Super Bowl, these same fans will be yelling at Jet management for cutting him.
Glad he's going to be gone, not happy about the injury. I never liked Sanchez but it was never personal. But that will be spun as being inhumane & celebrating the injury for some reason...
The failures of Sanchez over the past two years are largely injury related, so it is fitting that his exit from the team is injury related, as much as it sucks.
Thanks for taking the time to write this^... That perfectly captures my thoughts as I watched his play. And except for the wife thing, I feel the same way.
....and above all, sad that he never had the chance to grow and play for a real OC. All the best Mark. wish you well.
We don't know that for sure. I think the Titans may have fooled Geno and Hill pre-snap into thinking they would be in cover 1 as post-snap they went into 2 man under. In the WCO the QB expects his WRs to adjust their routes based on the coverage. Geno chose not to lead Hill to his death since the safety was right there. Instead he threw the ball slightly to the outside away from the safety as though he expected Hill to cut-off the route into a hitch. Hill, however, kept on running and got his ass lit. If he led him into that hit, then it would have been his fault. He didn't.
That throw was to the inside, the corner had to work inside to try to pick that wounded duck. The pass never should have been thrown.
I never meant to write so much, especially from my phone. I just can't shake the idea that the people trashing Simms for his college resume are the same ones that didn't bother to watch that game.
they should have kept mcelroy ( not quinn), had a real open competition amongst smith, simms, and mcelroy. then, if one guy doesn't get the job done, pull him out of the game and next guy up. they are doing the same thing with geno that they did with sanchez. he stays in ,starts, no matter how badly he plays. wrong! there is no accountability, no incentive to avoid dumb moves. behind-the-back ball transfers, always backpedalling ( even near the goal line?) , are just dumb moves, period! hmy::shit::sad:
The jets don't need a guy that plays like Chad Pennington after he had his arm ripped off twice. Glad to see McElroni gone. But thank you for giving me another reason to say McElroni. New king of the noodle arms.
was a big Sanchez supporter until I finally gave up midway through last season. Glad he's finally gone for good
I'm not going to get into whether or not Smith should have thrown that ball, but what the hell kind of route was that? They had Westhoff on the radio today and he nailed it. You couldn't tell if he was running a seem, a post, a short post or a slant. He just kind of went through the motions out there on that route.
That route was suspect, but if you watch the All22, he made his cut before the ball was in the air and it looked like Geno was tracking him the whole time. Probably the reason why the safety went that way so early.
