I can't wait to hear how the sky is falling because they split the series 2-2.

You're thinking of the days back when Boston was good.

Take a look at the Yankees, Rays and Twins schedules..maybe even you can figure out where that leads.

    Price? Yeah, I agree.

I despise Vagqueef. I was up and down on that clown all year. Screw him. What a waste.

Joba has been a lot more good than bad this year. It's hard to get down on him for a bad outing.

The AL East was decided last night. The Yankees had every opportunity to take it, and they gave it away. I'm disgusted, especially with Girardi. That's why you go for the kill when you have the chance, not preserve a guy "for tomorrow."

Screw it now. We're drawing the Twins. May as well just rest everyone and go in healthy for road series all the way through October.

I would agree, except there's no way that the Yankees could "go for the kill" at this point. They could've taken 3 of 4 from the Rays sure, but it wouldn't have killed Tampa's chance at the division and it wouldn't have stopped the likely ALCS matchup.

The real fight is coming "tomorrow," so I'm fine with Girardi resting guys with October in mind.

I think the series split was ok.

I think what concerns me is the fact that the Yanks will have to play to win the rest of the way.

Pitchers will not get any rest.

I also agree with what someone else said, Price probably locked up the Cy with that performance.

    Even me?

Dude, you probably shouldn't be trying to insult other people's intelligence.

In any case, I'm well aware of the schedules of the teams in question. My response would be: And? So what?

Win or lose the division, it don't mean a damn thing. The most important thing is to get to the playoffs. That's it. The second most important thing is to have your players healthy/rested and your rotation lined up. HFA would come in third on that list.

Do you care about winning the division? Or winning the World Series?

I don't think that happens. Cashman and Girardi have both indicated that the division would be nice, but the goal is to be rested/healthy. Once the WC is officially wrapped up, they'll be resting players. They already have been, actually. They know what the priorities are.

I wouldn't mind the WC @ Minnesota...the Yanks have success there.

Exactly. Winning the division would be nice, but who really cares? I just want us in the playoffs so that we have a chance to defend our title. That's it.

See, I never had a problem with not worrying about winning the division if there were no false pretenses.

Instead, Girardi has been sitting on the fence the past couple of weeks. One day he manages like the wild card is just fine, the next he's acting like they need the division. (Personally, I believe in home field advantage so I'd prefer not just the division but best record, but spilled milk is what it is.)

By playing the fence he puts guys out there who could just get rest and lets guys like Granderson make diving catches that could result in losing him for October.

Like I've said before, either go for it, or don't. Just stop flip-flopping.

Just because they have an eye on the future doesn't mean they're not going to try to win games. It's only been in the past four days that they truly locked up a playoff spot, anyway (even though it's still not officially official). Winning games is still important. But what has he done that makes you think he's been acting like they NEED the division more than the wild card? Has he thrown any starters on short rest? Used Mo three days in a row? Or did he tell Granderson that he needs to dive at least three times per game? Of course not.

What would you expect him to do if he wasn't "going for it"? Sit all the starters for a week straight?
