For awhile there this was too close, but the offense finally came around after the trainwreck that is the Nats bullpen got its chance to impact the game.

Lannan is definitely the Nationals best starting pitcher and Penny is arguably our worst ( that is not on the DL). These next two games should be fun.

I think Zimmermann is their best SP personally, lannan is a bit more consistent, but he's got #3 stuff, zimmermann has great stuff and as he gets more experience he's going to be a very good pitcher

Jesus, Nick Green was almost killed by a broken bat. The play allowed a run to score on the next play which was a bloop into left.

And one for Varitek. With a 5 run lead and a multi-hit night, Ortiz is done for the evening.

I was only able to catch the recap of this. That play with Green and the broken bat was batshit. Incredible fluke that the bat broke like that and went in the same direction as the ball and towards a fielder, then also huge luck in Green not getting impaled. After seeing the way that thing landed in the ground I think that really could have killed him.

Lester only looked so-so tonight, but it was great to see Papi finally hit on the road. Very much looking forward to seeing one of the best pitchers of this generation make his debut tomorrow night.

Another nice win over the Nats. Great to see Papi continuing to hit 2 for 3 w/3 rbis and a higher batting average than aroid.

Not sure if it's nerves or what, but not a great start for Smoltz. Just not throwing strikes.

Shouldn't you be worrying about that quarter billion dollar atrocity you root for?

Yes, I just didn't like Smoltz going to Boston to end his career. This is his first game, but its not a good sign. Its basically a rehab assignment. Nats suck.
