That defensive line, Pryor and Allen look pretty good along with 20 mil+ to spend. Decker, a solid 2nd year TE, a decent slot guy... That could entice a few coaches, seeing us a just a couple players away from being a dangerous team. Coaches have huge ego's, being able to come in and get instant results feeds it. That's what happened with Rex, he had the makings of a decent team and milked it to 2 AFCCG's.

Why didnt the Jets spend to the cap? Saving money is fine but they could have did a few 1 year deals right? I'm sure there were guys out there willing to take 1 year deals.

Can't argue with that logic however if they take a look at the Organization, that would be a reason to think twice especially with a GM that isn't the fastest learner or the biggest spender. A coach can be undone quite easily by the GM that supports him. Just ask Rex.

If Rex does get fired, it will more than likely be directly affected by the play of the QB. If Vick replaces Geno for his continued poor play this job looks less desirable despite all of those things you mentioned, because the most important position on the field is in such disarray. I also think the next HC is not going to be a 'players' coach. The cycle usually goes that a disciplinarian coach gets replaced by a players coach, and vice versa. I would only hope that if Rex does get canned that his replacement has a strong offensive background. There are enough pieces in place on the D side that good defensive play can be sustained, while the offense gets a much-needed infusion of help...
