I dont know if he's lost patience after the 1st regular season game but it will be lost quickly. I know i have alot more respect for Jammal Westerman then i do the Ghost. Good game he had on sunday while Ghoston was less then average. Constantly getting pushed out of the play by TE's and Receivers.
Did u even pay attention to the game? They both did ok. Nothing more, nothing less. For you to say that one had a good game and the other was below average just shows ur bias on the situation. U should probably stop posting on the situation all together.
I'm actually really excited to see Gholston progress over the season. Seems like he's growing really fast as a player. If you watched him in each preseason game up until now, it's pretty remarkable how far he's come. People who are bashing him have no idea what they're talking about.
I need to see it first. As of the current status.......absolutely no way. Currently, he is another Brian Bozworth.
BomberJet is usually very smart in his posts but this is one time where he is not. Count me in at Alio's corner here. Oh and for the person who was bytching about Brian Thomas? Brian has rebounded to turn into a VERY Solid player. did he live up to his high draft-pick? No. But it's not like he's stealing money out there....There have probably been many draft picks in the past whom have never even been SOLID, let alone Awesome....So I wouldn't complain if I were that B.Thomas hater.....
Nothing much but to call Thomas an outright bust is very dumb 'cause he has rounded himself into a very SOLID player for this team. While he hasn't lived up to the 1st-round pick expectations, it's not like he is just taking up space either. He has done a very good job at becoming a key player for this team on defense. He is no impact player but seriously....how many "impact defensive players" have the jets successfully drafted the past 10 years aside from john abraham?
Yeah and I'm sure they'd give him his 21 million to leave.....NOT! tell me something, if YOU gave 21 million to someone to play a position on your team, would you just give him the money and tell him to get lost just 'cause he didn't light the world on fire in his first game? Exactly. I didn't think so either....
Okay THAT'S ENOUGH! Westerman is a nice player(as he's proving to be) but Vernon Gholston has a much higher ceiling than him and that's a fact. The thing is, if we follow your advice or whomever in "cutting our losses" and getting rid of Gholston, he will end up on another team and become the player we thought we drafted. Why? 'CAUSE HE WOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO PLAY EVERYDAY! You can't learn while sitting on the bench!!! <----- This comment is for that guy who can't wait for Calvin Pace to come back and for Vern to assume "his role on the bench...".
I've finally given up on him. For sucha physical specimen he doesn't do a thing for me, and he runs like a freaking robot. Watch Harris and Bart to see how you're supposed to run. Calvin can't come back any sooner.
Facts Browning Nagel had a much higher ceiling than Joe Montana unfortunately his floor was substantially below Montana's that's also a fact.
From what I saw on Sunday, he's already an average linebacker. They are hoping he progresses further.
Its simple when it comes to the Ghost. Just look at Harris and see what a player is supposed to do. You either have or you don't. Harris has it and Ghost is ...well .. We'll see I guess.
I'll just agree to disagree here until we see more. I don't see him as making any real kind of impact at this point. He reminds me a lot of Victor Hobson only a bit bigger and if possible even less impactful. I hope Gholston is not on the field much Sunday against the Pats because he's no part of the answer against the two main threats the Jets are going to face in his immediate vicinity: Wes Welker and Kevin Faulk. He literally can't do anything positive against the people most likely to beat us. I'm hoping the Jets are in a 3-3-5 for most of the game with Eric Smith in the slot Gholston would normally be in so that we have somebody to handle Welker and Faulk who might actually have the ability to impact the game. Gholston can't rush well enough to make any impact on Brady's quick throws to those guys and he can't cover either of them either. What's the point in having him on the field at that point?
Time and again we've seen the Jets draft certain players that require them to fit the system. Whether it/s Brad Smith from QB to WR or Dwyane Robertson from 4/3 tackle to 3/4 NT, so on so forth. Maybe, perhaps VG is another in a line of victims that fall short. That VG becoming anything more than an average LB, is something time and experience will determine. Yes, I agree that B. Thomas has improved, but how long did that take and by what measure? Still doesn't warrant a #1 pick imho. I will be watching these 2 players carefully over the next several weeks, then will form another opinion, as I trust others will also. I stand by what I have witnessed with VG so far ( hands on hips, lol). Now, after Ryan's little rub, will he do it ever again?
