I look at the title of the thread, head to the last page, and I can't even figure out what it's about because it's just devolved into street cred licensing arguments... ahh, the sweet fruits of an 8 and 8 season.
Ostensibly, to either be a great guy and help the team so that they can win by signing other good players, or with some, the threat of "you have to take less or we'll have to cut you" and if they wouldn't get the same money elsewhere, the player plays ball.
I worked at Fox Sports for 12 years. Trust me, they never lost money on the NFL. Hockey and Nascar...well, that's another story.
Regardless of how much room the Jets may end up with when all the smoke clears, what CANNOT be spun is the fact that EVERYONE of your division opponents will have DOUBLE to THREE times more cap space than the Jets. ....And YES it is STILL very painful to have my team lose the superbowl when our most reliable receiver can't make a moderately difficult catch that he makes 9 out of ten times that probably locked up a win for the Pats, while at the same time their LEAST reliable WR makes a great catch that essentially locked up the win for them.
Regardless of how much money the rest of the AFC east has, the Jets are the only team out of EVERYONE in their division who will have a young healthy franchise QB with a bright bright future on their roster.
Yeah but Brady most likely has at least 3 very good seasons left in him... Pats fans have no reason to feel jealous towards our QB situation in the slightest.
