This is really a "Best RB tandem in an RBBC situation". Teams with two RB's that will most likely both get over ten carries a game. If Turner was going to get 10 carries a game then LT and Turner would be at the top of the list. SA and S Jackson aren't there either, and that's why... they are feature RB's.
yeah but we have no idea if Ricky Williams is playing next year...he will probably be hittin a blunt on Sunday instead of running the ball
I think the criteria we believe SI used has been spelled out pretty clearly. I guess I have to ask, what parts of those criteria that differentiate the listed tandems from LT/Turner are you so confused about?
Because Portis/Betts go against that criteria... Put it this way...if LT/Turner made this list...would anyone argue? Seems like people are saying they aren't an official tandem in anyones book because they aren't called a tandem by the "experts."
So you pointed out the writers mistake (portis/betts - injury(that i'm aware of)). And because of this, your logic of Feature and Tandem backs has changed? Let me ask you this: If you believe Turner/LT are tandem backs, Is there a team in the NFL that doesn't use tandem backs? Can you please name them and why they aren't? Did the feature back (ie. LT/LJ/SA) go the way of the dinosaur?
we aren't considering WHY backs get the carries they do, just the quantity and manner in which their carries come. there is a difference. it doesn't matter if the backs split carries because of strategy or injury, just that they are essentially splitting carries. LT and Turner aren't splitting carries in that same manner.
Question: If the Chargers have someone like Turner...just gave him a huge tender...didn't trade him... Wouldn't that tell you that they just. Might. Use. Him. More. Crazy right? Other factors: LT is a scat back on steroids, Turner is a power back with speed. A perfectly compliment. LT has had a really large load put on him early in his career. He is now heading into what USED to be the last few years of top performance for a RB. The Chargers realize his worth, and what having a guy like Turner can do. Up Turners carries = keeping LT fresh = good. I mean technically EVERY team is using a two back system, its just a matter of how much you emphasize the second back. We will be "featuring" Jones, but Leon will get his fair share of carries. Thats a two back system, but doens't it sound a WHOLE LOT like a feature back and a backup to you (which is what LT/Turner is to most)? The Pats will be "featuring" Maroney, but will look for a power back to rest him and change the pace. Jesus, while I'm writing this post all thats running through my mind is this "two back system" thing is not to different from the old system. We're also working with the premise that this is a best tandem list for 2008, meaning things like roles changing (Turner getting more carries to lighten LTs load) have to be considered. It's so SIMPLE its amazing how hard it is to comprehend. Again I ask, if Turner and LT had been in that list BEFORE this argument took place...would anything but their placement (how is it not #1 if they're not #1?) be argued? I highly doubti t.
Again what is the "same matter?" Turner comes in to "change it up" on the defense no? Is that not what Dillon did for Maroney? What Leon will do for Jones? What Bush does for McCallister? Like I said...they sound like a tandem to me. I'm going to stick with the whole idea that you're waiting for a reporter or expert to call them one.
Only one I have a problem with is Rhodes and JOrdan. But Brandon Jacobs and Reuben Droughns........... I think they will be top three once the year is over. I beleive they will be Very Very good. I also like the fact that you can play Both in the back feild at the same time. And the probably left off LT and Turner because they don't expect them to be together next season.
Oh come on...it's obvious they're not a tandem...theres NO such thing as a tandem with a feature back....ignore that thats false and you're good.
