Yeah.. draft picks are overrated. There was no reason Marshall is valued at a 5th.. What player are you going to get for a 5th that is currently better than B Marsh.. NONE. So yes, draftpicks are overrated
Not a strange metric at all. If anything it is the sort of thinking that real GMs should (hopefully) be doing. Think about "real world" jobs (and no, I don't consider the NFL to be real world in many senses). You have to think about cost of living, taxes, schools, and so on when you choose where to apply for a job and where to live. Some people are just not cut out for the sacrifices in a city to get those advantages and, conversely, some people are not cut out for the country despite its own advantages. The same exact sort of thinking should apply to any GM looking to maximize his ROI. The media lights burn VERY bright in NYC, the fans are unforgiving (although most fans are), and with a team like the Jets the fans will be impatient for success. All these things should be considered if we want this franchise to turn around. So I think you're right on track.
You can swap draft pics for FA's all day long, but remember: Salary cap wise, one Brandon Marshall = your ENTIRE draft. Swapping a 1st round draft pick for Stafford sounds GREAT!!!! Until you realize if you had kept your #1 pick, you'd save $80M dollars over the life of his contract (5 yrs). There's not doubt you can swap unproven draft pics for a proven vets. But the salary cap ceiling means you build a dynasty by turning 3-4 draft picks every year into the MoWilk/Richardson/Pryor/Revis's of the world while saving $100M to be used everywhere else.
The problem is that he isn't a feature back and we need to stop using him in this way and thinking of him like this. He is the perfect back for a team looking to split the load between two backs. If he is used to carry half the load then he is a monster, but he just wears down too quickly. Frankly, it may turn out that I am even wrong about this and Ivory may never really be more than a VERY good change of pace back capable of taking a minority of carries, but I'm still hoping he can handle a full half of the RB load. In either event, when he runs he runs hard and makes the opposition pays, so he is a real asset, but he is an asset that is easily squandered.
Holy hair club for men! Is he really that bald or did someone screw around with that pic? I have more hair on my ass than this guy has on his head...... both of these are bad things.
The Jetsian move is to get him when he ages and looks like that and not next season lmao. I would not want to give up 2 1st rounders for him, no way. A 2nd and then some... I can deal with.
People saying not giving up a first is crazy!! He's a good qb that this franchise has wanted since Joe...I would give 2 first for this guy who's still in his prime
No, it's a slide show someone created. All the NFL QBs. http://www.mandatory.com/2013/12/05/todays-nfl-quarterbacks-if-they-were-bald/6 _
Do you have any idea what youre talking about? The average high in November is 54 degrees and the average low is in the 40s December average high is 43 and the low 31....it does not nor has it ever on a consistence basis snowed several times a week for all of November and December in NY On average new York city area will get 5 inches of snow in December and less than an inch in November.
Last few years the snow didn't start till January and the heavy stuff didn't get here till February. At least up here in Northern Bergen County. Maybe 4 years ago we had one massive and wet heavy snow storm in October that took down a bunch of trees but it melted within 2 days. Other than that, it's not until after the New Year. _
And Lord knows we aint playing any home games in January so the whole cold weather thing is massively overrated here. Giants Stadium and Shea had wind issues that were a concern for a weaker armed QB but that's another story
Failure for a #1 overall pick with Megatron as his #1 weapon. I would not want him, but I agree he would have suitors. It's the NFL. Their arent many good QB's.
If your point is he's a failure for being the first overall pick...then ok...but to say Sanchez is better is not accurate IMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
