He got the job done & had that INT in SB3 that helped us win that game so he gets many kudos. Just compare him to such #1 picks we had like VG & Vick & Johnny Lam Jones who did nothing with there supposed talent whereas #22 on hand did a lot more with a lot less BTW staff22 is another member of the I saw SB3 club
That's 3 of us old farts, we are all part of the few who saw the real Joe Willie Namath, I'm sure there are more...
I'm expecting up to ten at the very best. I rewatched SB3 yesterday to watch #22 INT once again When I watch the tape I still get pissed when the Colts recover the on sides kick in the 4th Qtr
Old fart here but not as old as you guys,,,,I was just a tad too young to rememberSB3 ,,,,seen it a gazzilion times on tape but have zero recollection of watching it as it happened.
Maynard was "slightly" injured. JWN just missed him on a longie in the 1st qtr & from that point forward Sauer was the guy & DM was the decoy. Do U know the NYJs did not throw 1 pass in the 4th qtr which I think is a amazing that we were able to control the ball without needing the pass
Like everything else about the game the so called "experts" totally underestimated our D. Remember at that time the AFL was the Mickey Mouse league & the Colts were the greatest EVER in the NFL
Thats because the Colts beat the Browns 34-0 in the NFL Championship, the Browns were a good team too
Could be but as the experts never followed the AFL those days so they had no way of knowing anything about us except we had JWN. The Weeb connection helped as well since he was HC of the Colts until they fired him & we hired him
True Champ, they knew nothing about us, our team speed, but what surprised the Colts was how we smacked them right in the mouth, and rammed the ball down their throat all day
Probably because just like the so called experts they did not see us play during the regular season since we were 1 of the teams from that Mickey Mouse league
