We'll agree to disagree, but the only really good movie of that trilogy is only considered phenomenal because of one man's acting.
Most people are biased when it comes to superhero movies. And seeing as how most people think Nolan can do no wrong you're gonna end up with an online circle jerk over how good his batman trilogy was.
Affleck did a great job directing Argo, which was my favorite film of last year, but he was the worst part of the movie. is he a good Batman? who knows, but he is decent enough to at least have me more interested in the movie than I was.
Saying "I think it was better than Rises" is much different from asserting that TDKR is critically (or objectively) inferior to Man of Steel, which is patently false. As for Ben Affleck as Batman... This has to be a joke.
A big stinking bomb in the works, but I actually like him in Daredevil. Should have gotten Anson Mount for Batman.
I'll just leave this here. http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/5/2...on-to-heath-ledger-being-cast-as-the-jok.html
^ Never saw that but I thought back to how I laughed when I heard Heath Ledger would be the Joker for TDK when I first opened this thread. But still. BEN AFFLECK? On the bright side, maybe after this movie, Ben Affleck will die of a drug overdose.
People keep bringing this up, but I feel it is completely different. When I heard Heath was The Joker, I could tell Nolan had a vision for the character and I knew Heath would bring his own twist to the character. I honestly could not think of anyone to play the Joker, so I just took Nolan's casting and hoped for the best........AND GOT IT. As for Affleck, I can think of many better actors to play Batman. I can tell they are going for The Dark Knight Returns gritty Batman for sure, but I am not sure Ben can pull it off. Hopefully he can, but we have to wait and see how photos of him as Batman look, trailers and ultimately the film itself. Not great odds, with Snyder directing, and it being a Superman sequel.
whiny fat fuck fanboys should never be listened to. Heath Ledger was a surprising choice, but was also highly regarded as an actor. of course fanboys who have no idea what makes a good movie, and simply want their comic images brought to life identically, are going to whine about casting like Ledger that differs from the image they have been masturbating to in their head for decades. these are dumb fucks who think if a character has red hair you have to cast a natural red head, as if the concept of hair and make-up on a movie is completely alien to them. I think that is different from Ben Affleck, though. he isn't regarded very highly as an actor (all his goodwill is for the directing side), and doesn't seem to portary the basic elements of the character, regardless whether he fits the fanboy "ideal." so the whining is completely different, even if the dumb fucks whining about it don't know it.
That and Ledger was a significantly younger/better actor than Affleck is now. The criticisms against Ledger were squarely because he had yet to be widely accepted as a dynamic actor mostly due to his roles pre-TDK, which, in hindsight, really did him no justice.
