Let me go down on record that I do not want Cutler on this team, I do not care if we give up Gholston and a sixth or any other deal that would be considered raping Denver. Now if theis team gives up a first and Harris (nothing else) for him Tanny and Woody are bigger fckin morons than I thought they were. Cutler is a cancer and will fold like a house of cards in NY. I thought no way this organization would make the stupid Brett Favre fiasco, so I have no doubt they will do something stupid in the name of trying to sell the PSL's nobody wants.
I want Cutler on this team.........but I also want a 1st round pick and Harris on defense. Id prefer to keep our pick and Harris. THE HELL WITH THE PSLS.
Guys this is the NY JETS we are talking about, So after 45 years of following this team this is how I see this trade going down, Jets give up a ton for Cutler this years 1 and 2 next years 2 and 2 exceptional defensive players... you name them.... Kellen Clemens is given his out right release and is signed by the Pats to be the Backup to Brady. Season starts and Cutler still not comfortable with Shotty system and is making a ton of bone head plays that are costing the Jets games. Suddenly he is not looking too sure of himself and then, well then, the NY press starts it's questioning, giving up so much for a QB who really looks shaky and lost. The press starts to ask hard questions and Jay being Jay starts acting defensive and telling them to fuck off and he will no longer be talking to the press. An of course then it's on Mean while, by the second game of the season Brady's knee has not held up and he will be put on IR for the remainder of the year. In steps Clemens and he starts to light up the NFL and kicks the Jets asses twice during the season making them look foolish as he leads the Pats to the Super Bowl. That will be the first of 3 Championship rings he will earn as the staring QB of the Pats after Brady is told he must retire if he wishs to continue walking in his old age. An in interviews later in his career Clemens admits he most enjoyed rubbing the nose of the Jets into the mud for the disrespect he was showed for so many years.... Ah, the life of a Jets fan.... An to this day and 3 championship rings Don still will not admit that Clemens was any good.....
I did not take the time to read all the posts. But if we have to give a number one and Revis or Harris, I would do it in a heartbeat. You do not win SuperBowls with cornerbacks or inside linebackers, you win them with quarterbacks.
Yes you do win superbowls with CB's and ILB's. You also win them with OL, DL, TE , K and punter. It's a team game. And if you are solid on D, ST and the run game, you can get by with an average to above average QB. The notion that some people think you need a stud QB to win the superbowl is ridiculuous. All you need to do is look at it's history and realize that Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jeff Hostetler, Jim McMahon, Jim Plunkett, and Eli Manning all won the big one. Then factor in some of the QB's that took there team to the SB in the last 30 years include Rex Grossman, Matt Hasselbeck, Jake Delhomme, Rich Gannon, Kerry Collins,Chris Chandler, Drew Bledsoe, Neil O'Donnel, Stan Humphries, Boomer Esiason, Tony Eason, and David Woodley Not a whole bunch of HOFers there.
^Yeah what the hell? I look forward to see what fat ass with some sexy lips I can see next in your avatars... Now you blend in.
What the fuck are you smoking? You got a crystal ball or some shit? I don't want the Jets to overpay for JC but you've really gone way out there.
NO TO TRADING HARRIS! Our #17, KC and Rhodes Harris has more upside than Rhodes and while Rhodes may have peeked already, Harris has not.
According to an msnbc article, it will take 2 first round picks to get him. Would you give up this year's and next year's #1 for cutler?
If we could get Cutler for # 17, and next years 25 or lower, Plus one of the two Qb's on the Roster thats a good deal. But....Clevleand has the 5 overall, and a QB, and in any event will pick no lower that 17 next year..(Probably) Hard to match that.
There really shouldn't be any more talk of Rhodes being traded. As Don pointed out, we can't afford the hit we'd take to the cap.
not to mention he is the defensive leader on the team. but remember, he made a comment about a QB that most fans don't want anyway, so that means he's a cancer and needs to be banished to the Lions.
The guys you listed all LOST Super Bowls, not won them. Getting there is important, and a defense can get you there - but only one of the great defenses of all time can WIN the Super Bowl without a great QB.
Bottom line - we have a QB on the team who will be almost as good, and isn't a risk of going mental at any given moment and flaking out on the team when he's needed most. Keep the draft picks, improve the entire team.
