No it's not Joe. Go find something else to do while you're not keeping busy watching your bullpen blow leads.
Ain't nothing wrong with him. That's just A-Rod being A-Rod. Great when we've got a lead, disappears when we need him the most.
The most common myth of the A-Rod era. ETA: Just in case people don't believe me... here's Alex's OPS in situations based on score: Tie game: .969 1 run difference: .980 2 run difference: .953 3 run difference: .967 4 run difference: .969 >4 run difference: .954 So Alex seems to perform worse (although still quite well) when the score differential is large. His best performances are when the scores are very close. Here's his OPS based on leverage: High leverage: .978 Medium leverage: .958 Low Leverages: .969 Again, he's at his best in the high leverage situations.
*takes out protractor* Those GIDP are killers. So far we've seen Teix in the Philly game Posada (aided by Gardner) in the Cleveland game Arod tonight sucks.
This is what we call cherry picking evidence. Yes, those GIDP were killers. The point is that A-Rod has performed at a very high level, regardless of the situation, and that the difference in his performance based on the type of situation is either negligible, or against what people seem to believe. I'm not saying he did a great job tonight. I'm just saying that this is not "A-Rod being A-Rod."
I don't think he was disagreeing with you. He was simply pointing out that our best hitters putting the ball on the ground with less than two outs and runners on hurt, which is truth. Thanks for posting that OPS for ARod though. I always suspected as much, but never went to look for the proof. I've always just walked away from the arguments saying that he's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be in pressure situations, but without some evidence it falls on deaf ears.
All, You know how I know the Yankees have turned it around? The aura of the loss last night wasn't a big deal to me. In my mind, I'm like "They just had a bad outing" or "Can't win 'em all"...so I guess what I'm saying is, these losses aren't frustrating the shit out of me anymore, which is a good thing.
Right. I'm just saying that it doesn't really tell the story about what A-Rod (or the other players) do in terms of performance.
Bullshit is what it is. Teixeira got hit twice and there is no penalty for Padilla. Why is it the Yankees can never protect themselves? ------------- Oh, and Wang sucks dong. Joba shouldn't be in the pen, and Wang shouldn't be in the rotation. This is not an audition? Really?
