The best this team will ever do is overachieve into an AFCC each decade

Promise you aren't going to come back if we start winning?

Im not gonna change teams but i certainly am not going to pay for the admission to see this team in person.

Youre right the overall nfl product has diminished. Thats because players arent ready anymore. They come in flame out in a few years and gone. Less talented players. Ive been saying this for years.

As for this team, i want a competent headcoach, a good gm, and a good qb.

I'm on the west coast and was up very late last night.

My alarm went off at 9:30 so I could get up and go to the bar for the game. I shocked myself by snoozing it and flat-out crashed into oblivion for four hours.

I then had the most insanely vivid dream of going to the bar and watching a thrilling 30-28 Jet victory. I mean, I watched every play. It was wild. The defense had a huge stop at the end. (uhh... reality check?)

The dream continued with me talking to some friends about it, checking out TGG, etc. I even heard some ESPN jackasses saying the Jets had shown the world something today. They were back.

Then I woke up again and couldn't believe it hadn't happened. With trembling fingers, I grabbed my phone to check the score. lol.

I confess that I 99% stopped watching the Jets a couple years ago. They are still my favorite team because, well I just can't help myself. But this team has ruined far too many Sundays for me to sit in front of the TV and cause my stress level to go through the roof. Following them on the internet is about all I can take.

Meh, I am rapidly hurtling towards 50, never got to see a SB involving the NYJ. Saw a couple AFC championships games and it doesn't bother me as much as it did when I was a younger man. I wish it was different and they were a franchise that's always solid and seem blessed with a great QB, they're not and that's just the way it is.

I'll be watching next week and the week after that...

You know, it's funny. I have been a member here since 06, and when I first came onto the scene, I thought the dark sider stuff was silly. I would mock people who were perpetually negative about the jets. I would call them illogical. I would write that they were paranoid, miserable people. I would question their authenticity.

Well, I just want to admit that I get it. The longer I watch this stupid fucking team, I get the "dark sider" thing. I really do. I've aged a lot in the past ten years. I'll always probably be too much of an optimistic fool to ever truly convert to the dark side, but I get it. And . . . I'm sorry.

During other periods of hopelessness, like the Kotite Years, I would just do what I had to do on Sundays, and tape the games with my VCR.

Then, I would watch them with the fast forward the next night, instead of Monday Night Football.

I really wouldn't mind going to some games on a nice day, just for the fun of it, but when the team is bad, the rowdy assholes tend take over the place, and I am getting a little too old for that kind of crap.

It has also gotten too ridiculously expensive to just sit there and watch them stink up the place, with nothing to cheer about.

Well said, beautiful. It is a very frustrating time right now. My father genuinely wants to switch teams (he won't). I genuinely want to switch teams (I won't). But we've come too far to turn back now. For some reason this season is more painful than some of the other 4-12 seasons we are so accustomed to seeing. Enough is enough already. But you know if this team actually ever gets it together, you'll be back. So let's not kid ourselves. You don't have to throw money at them, you can watch on tv every game and not give them a dime. But yes, I sympathize, it feels like we're at the end of the rope.

I'm probably close to your age and starting to come to grips with the fact that I will likely not see a NYJ championship in my lifetime. About all I can hope for is an exciting unexpected win now and then. At least I'm a Yankee fan so it's not like I'm all around cursed.

There was a time in the mid 90's that i lost a bit of interest due to several personal issues and transitions.......of course it correlated nicely with the fake spike and kotite's reign.....

I am rapidly approaching a similar phase where the season and team becomes an afterthought.

    Oh well.

Yeah, I'll always watch, but this was a bit of something I worried about going from run through a wall for me Rex to vanilla Bowles. There seems like there's no fire out there or urgency to win. This team reminds of the 2007 Jets. It's frustrating how we need a cupcake schedule to be relevant it seems like.

A lot of depression here...and I'm feeling it too. Not so much because we're 1-4, but because there's no reason for optimism. More people dropping out than I've ever seen before. And I'll tell you, I'm close. I stopped watching the Chiefs game and walked out of the Seahawks. They kept me watching today until the very end, but the outcome was very predictable. Bowles' coaching in the second half continues to be troubling. Then, driving home tonight, I'm listening to the Bills game on satellite, and they win in a very encouraging (for them) way. So now, they've won 3 in row behind a coach that we ran out of town. We look down at the Browns, Lions, Titans, Jags, etc, but what are we? A perennial loser. At least those teams are the only team in their respective towns. Here, we are perennial weak sisters to the Giants. We''re bashed as a matter of course. And if fans like me are losing interest and passion, we're on the verge of becoming irrelevant.

Well its a bit of a shame cause there are some younger players in there that are performing well, specifically at WR and OL, in addition to williams (DL) and lee.

Trouble is we need that young player performing well at other spots like corner, OLB, and of course QB

The team's quit. When your 16 million dollar man who's looked like horseshit all season takes himself out of harms way, how do you get the other guys to lay it on the line?

Let's be fair to the "overachieving" teams that came up short.

The 1998 Jets team lost to a Denver Broncos team that cheated and went over the salary cap to get John Elway a SB win. A couple funny bounces of the football lead to some turnovers and a game we had in the palm of our hand is lost.

The 10-1 Jets team in 1985 was on a collision course with the Giants for a Subway Superbowl when EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE on the team got hurt.

You could say the front office relied on too many older players but Ken O'Brien, Freeman McNeil and other key guys were recent draft picks.

I am not the biggest fan of our owner, head coach, our QBs but think our GM has made some good decisions and hope he can fix this team so it can compete next year without mortgaging the future. He overpaid Fitz and Wilkerson but still looks worlds better than the last guy to sit in his seat.

Yeah, all the way up until the first weekend in Dec. After that, I'm done! Means I'll be in it longer than the Jets for 2016. :)

I hear you, I no longer watch games, not worth the 3 hour time/emotional commitment (easier since I am on the West Coast now). Most I will do is check the score online and if its close tune in for the 2nd half on sirius...Not quite sure what the underlying issue is, we've had different owners/coaches/QBs etc...
