The Jets carry a very heavy debt load, the highest in the NFL at this point by quite a bit. The Giants are second but not on the same plane as the Jets.

If the area only supports one team very well the Jets are very likely to wind up sold to unwind the debt at some point. Where they go after that is unclear.

It's not something that is likely to happen, but the NY/NJ metro area is the only place in the country where two NFL franchises overlap to the extent that the Jets and Giants do and effectively share the same market. If that market for whatever reason no longer supports two teams at the level required one of them is going to get bought by a billionaire and moved to his pet location.

^ Yeah, Chad was a good guy; loved the 'Hungry Man Breakfast' with Mrs. P. at Cracker Barrel. Farve on the other hand liked mailing cell phone pix of his dick to Jet employee Jenn Sterger. Farve starts his Jet tenure with a (slightly underthrown) bomb TD in Miami; Jets hold on to win. Throws for 6 TD's in 54 pt. blowout of Arz. Then his best moment: a win over the 10-0 Titans at TN to run the NYJ record to 8-3 (Leon Washington obviously took two good dumps before that game)....pundits starting to chirp "best AFC team" - things looking good.

Then it all goes south. He screws up his bicep tendon, selfishly doesn't sit and ends up with a raggedy scatter arm reckless throwing into trouble....and getting beat by the likes of Seattle backup Seneca Wallace with the Jet offense scoring 3 measly points in a 13-3 loss; Jets now at 9-6 in free fall. Come to think of it, the only guy who 'threw' shit for the Jets that day in Seattle was Snowballin' Shawn Ellis.

It made sense at the time -- Pennington looked done, and Clemens has never been an NFL starter. We had a chance to fill our greatest weakness with one of the best of all time, and we took it -- I'll take that chance every time.

Obviously Favre ended up sucking, but it's also worth keeping in mind that if Favre played for us like he did for the Vikings the year after, then we would've won 12 games and been set up for a deep playoff run. Just because it didn't work out doesn't make it a bad decision.

Plus, as others have pointed out, there was a big silver lining in that move's failure.

We missed the playoffs because our HC had no balls. Kicking that FG from the 2 yard line to end the first drive against Seattle in week 16 is the call that sealed our fate. The weather turned bad after that and we never threatened again.

If you remember, we desperately needed a W, and we took the opening kickoff and sailed down the field with hardly any resistance. When we were faced with 4th and 1 at the 2, the camera panned over to the sideline to catch Mangini mouthing "field goal". Absolutely ridiculous! 1 yard gives us 4 new downs to score. Worst case, we would have had the immortal Seneca Wallace backed up against his goal line with a banged up OL, and he chooses to settle for 3 points. That was the exact moment I knew I wanted him gone.

Looking back, it marked the beginning of all these crazy personnel decision by the Jets front office. Snyder like moves acquiring big names past their prime. The fact that he flourished with the Vikings tells me there's something about the Jets offense that is lacking. It's like if we some how managed to bring in Payton this year the offense would still suck, suck less but still suck. If you look at many of the successful teams today they built their offense slowly acquiring talent that fit their system. Pats, Steelers, Greenbay, etc. I don't get that sense with the Jets. With Ryan the offense is an after thought. I think the Ravens are an aberration that can't be duplicated.

i hated it then, i hate it even more now.

i wasnt sure at the time but i am sure as shit sure now that the move was a media grab and was based solely upon that. remember when that douche mangina named his kid bret as his middle name...

and it began the headline grab era, the whole headline thing has nothing to do with rex, its a tanny/woody issue. more woody than anyone else.

and it hurt the team then and probably still hurts it now. \

fuck favre and the real circus he brought to town, his circus was something he wanted and yearned for. tebone on the other hand doesnt seem to go out of his way to try and make himself relevant. favre was a huge ME guy.

At first I had a positive opinion of him based on the likable down to earth guy portrayed in the media. But only after he joined the team did I fully understand the Favre ME, ME, ME side. There was Favre and then the rest of the team. Wasn't all his fault. It takes two to tango and the Jets were more than happy to dance to his tune.

Let me Just remind people here that the season with Brett Farve here we Beat the shit out of teams and looked poised to steam roll into the playoffs. Somewhere along the line Farve either accumulated injuries or he got badly injured and could no longer throw. The Coaching Staff failed to bench him because he's the Almighty Farve. Ya see they were star struck and didn't have the balls to interfere with his consecutive starts streak. See Ya Man Genius!
Tannenbaum Failed to Get anything for Farve !. I believe Farve was signed to a two year deal , but was gone after one. If we held on to his right we might have gotten compensation for him.

remember all the were going to fly down there and have a talk with him over and over and then didnt someone meet him at the airport. it was the beginning of what we have now with the back page jets, always doing everything they can to get recognized for, whether it be football or not.

That's because Jet fans enjoy buying and drinking beer, and sticking a $20 down a stripper's g-string.

Giant fans are Republicans and never leave the house after 7pm.

I thought: awesome, exciting to get a real quarterback on the team.

After 2006 it was clear we weren't going anywhere with Chad on the roster, so I was glad to get rid of him.

Signing Kris Jenkins, Woody, Pace showed we were going to be contenders. But it was going to be wothless with Chad at QB.

I was just hoping to repeat his 2007 performance, it was good for awhile..then ..:lol::lol:

Denver game. 49ers game. Seahawks game.

Would do it again if given the chance though.

So if we got for it and miss what would you say then? Going from the 2 aas compared to the 1 is a huge difference, you will rarely see coaches go from the 2 especially that early in the game. We didn't lose b/c of that play, Seneca Wallace outplayed Favre and Favre had stunk for weeks already, the only reason we still controlled our destiny at that point was b/c the D scored a TD to beat Buf late the week before.

Seattle was a terrible team, we should have scored 30+ on that team but we scored 3 b/c Favre was awful.

The sad part is Favre was my favorite non-Jet NFL player for years...until he became a Jet and the douchebag way it happened (not to mention the way he went to the Vikings after 'retiring').

Brett's failing arm brought us Rex.

Without Brett's arm falling apart after our 8-3 start, Mangini might still be here. While that might make someone want to smash a wall in, the thing is he might still be here with a Super Bowl ring. The Jets were the class of the AFC before that injury.

I was psyched when we signed him. That excitement waned the second half of the season, but originally I loved it. I was always a HUGE fan of his, even though he played for GB.

Mangini was awful that game, going for it from his own 20 on 4th and three down one score late in the game (with all three timeouts and the two-minute warning) was far worse.

Refusing to grab Bob Sutton by the collar and shake him until he finally sent more than a 3 man rush after Seneca fucking Wallace was even worse.
