This is honestly the lowest I have felt as a Jets fan....

Having the lead in the afccg in Denver and losing that game was my low. That game was the SB because the Falcons were no match for either team. Then the 1st game Testaverde injury the following year when they had another stacked roster. This year is nothing but standard protocol.

    100% this…same for me

Don’t forget, we had already beaten Atlanta that year during the season and it was a blowout…something like 28-3

It was the 30th anniversary of our SuperBowl…it was Parcells…man I was already counting the championship that season

    That one hurt a ton

To be frank, there are too many low points to count. I will agree that, when Martin fumbled in that AFCG against Denver, I knew we were done for. That was our last decent shot at the ring. However, probably what hurts the most, for me, is the fact that the era we live in is DESIGNED to ensure no team stays bad or good for long periods of time. The whole point of the Salary Cap etc. was to foster a balanced competitive edge so that the smaller market/frugal ownership teams could compete. I can't remember who said it but someone, a lot smarter than me, said once that you almost, "have to try and not be competitive or field a winner in the Salary Cap era." Clearly this person wasn't counting on the Jets or Woody Johnson.

I mean, for those of us who've been watching football, at least since the 70's, can remember when Detroit was, literally, the laughing stock. That city, organization and team simply couldn't get it right. Fast forward to today and even they are now a competitive outing. I know we all like to laugh and blame stupid shit like the Namath Curse or whatever but you really have to be trying to suck in the current era. Hell, Vegas odds are such that the Jets should have made the playoffs at least TWICE in the last 15 years. Johnson thinks he is Mr. Slick Willy and knows more than he does. Therein sits the problem with this team. You know, the 49'ers, under John York, kind of remind me of the Johnson run Jets. It wasn't until the kid, Jed, took over did they start to creep from under that mess. I'd love to say that Johnson's kid, when dad finally takes his dirt nap, will handle the team better but I think we've all gotten a short glimpse into his moronic mindset. <sigh>

Take it with a grain of salt but...if you are a Jets fan now and you raise your child to be a Jets fan isn't that some kind of Sports Child abuse or something? WHY in the hell would you do that to your bundle of joy?

When I started reading this thread at first I didn't realize it was from last year! But knowing what I know now, your take pretty much nailed it in so many ways......

Not too mention the very real possibility that Tuna wasn't going to stick around long-term to see it through and eventually win a Lombardi here. I felt like he was on the clock almost as soon as he arrived...

So many lows to pick from.

Gase season 2 was brutal. I know that’s probably recency bias but that team was just putrid to watch in almost every way.

Gase would have them ready for the opening drive, like he spent all his time game planning that and that alone, then he’d try to come up with the rest of the plan during the game.

At least Kotite just did nothing. Gase was trying (with one of the worst rosters in recent memory to be fair).

This is an evergreen thread with this team. I have seen bad Jets teams but I have never seen such a consistent pattern of bad coaches combined with terrible rosters. Pretty wild to think that Ryan Fitzpatrick produced the best QB season in 20 years for the Jets.

So many lows, hard to pick just one.

Losing afccg after the first half looks like a win, the. Vinny going down the first game the next season
    Gastineau-Kosar
    Missed Fg in Pittsburgh
    Losing 2 afccg with Sanchez
The death of the Rex era with the buttfumble
Promising year with fitz, only to get knocked out in the last game
How above the al groh year…a bunch of comebacks , I think we were 5-0 at one point ? Just to shit the bed down the stretch

I’ll still say the gase years might be the worst. Just seemed so hopeless for present and future. Much different than actually being competitive , and then losing .
