@AdamSchefter Adam Schefter Chiefs have told members of their organization that DC Romeo Crennel will be their interim head coach. His first game will be vs. Packers.
Could it have been that minor meltdown on the sidelines or the fact that this team has the immortal Tyler Palko at QB that got him fired...
I'm surprised that others have been singing his praises. Yes, they've been devastated by injuries, but I thought it was well-known even before this game that Haley is out of his mind. His behavior yesterday was so over-the-top unprofessional that I'm sure he already knew he was going to get fired. Given the grief Schottenheimer has gotten, I don't think this guy would last a month in the New York.
It was a bunch of stuff, starting with the fact that he and Pioli were at odds on a lot of things. Losing his cool and then having his team give up an all penalty drive just gave Pioli the excuse to do something he wanted too anyway. Haley committed the cardinal sin of being an offensive coach with a sputtering offense. The injuries were horrible but the Chiefs have been embarrassed on the field 5 times this year. Chiefs fans are just lucky that Josh McDaniels chose St Louis instead of KC when the Broncos fired him. That's another Mangini story in the making.
what did he do to get that penalty? I was watching in a bar with the sound off and didn't pick that up.
any coach that whines about the opposing team scoring in the 4th quarter of a preseason game when they are just trying to gauge player's ability to determine who may or may not make the team is a whiner, is an excuse maker and someone who feels sorry for himself -- not traits of a leader of men and someone I would want coaching my team. he was always complaining about something, which leads to excuse making and eventually trickles down to players. that kind of attitude doesn't lead to emotionally strong, championship caliber teams, so better to admit the mistake now and move on for KC.
No, never. Rex and Haley on the same staff? I could see it becoming disastrous, Haley being the hothead he is, and if him and Rex for whatever reason start to not get along, we could have the next generation version of Ryan v. Gilbride.
I get it now. They = Jets. Reid = Eagles head coach. Next week = after the next game. Took me a while.
Having your player come off the bench and get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and then to go and tap him on the helmet as if to say, "good job," does not suggest that Haley was in control of his team, not to mention himself yesterday. And I agree many of the penalties yesterday against the Chiefs were bullshit, and the league should be appalled at the performance of its officials once the tape is examined.
As others have said, it wasn't stated on TV. It was obvious from the sideline shots of him, however, that he spent the entire game either angrily glaring out on the field or yelling at his players or the officials (he definitely was yelling at the officials plenty of times other than when the penalty was called). He's done the same thing in other KC games I've seen. He just seems to be wound way too tightly.
Apparently Josh McDaniels is the frontrunner for the coaching position. Maybe then they can win some Mother-F*cking Games!
Here's my ideal final 3 regular season games scenario: Jets crush the Eagles, Andy Reid is subsequently asked to resign. Jets kick the Giants' teeth in, complete a sweep of the NFCE. Jets embarrass the Dolphins, Tony Sparano is fired and Jets get the trifecta of fired head coaches.
I want the ties to Parcells severed so that Steve Ross can complete the Circle Of Fail and hire his butt buddy King Carl Peterson to bury the Phins at the bottom of the ocean.
