I'm with you. That sentiment is just silly. It's not like the dude ever did anything against us. I'd rather have Brady though. He's a HOF QB that's still under the hill.
I call bullshit on this one. In today's world an ACL tear just isn't as big a deal as it once was. I don't know the exact number, but I've read on several sites that since the '90s somewhere around 98% of players that have the injury return to the field in a year or less. The infection is scary, but given the lack of news of late it sounds like things are under control. Not only that, but the statements in the article sound intentionally over-the-top. An ACL tear is one of the most common major injuries in sports yet it rarely ends any careers in this age of medical technology. So self-respecting doctor would go out on a limb like that.
I never thought I would say this but I really hope this is not true, that would be a sad ending to a great career.
How many yards did Cassel get in the last meeting with the Jets? Never did anything against us? If Favre leaves at end of season, Mangina would grab Cassel in a heartbeat......
pretty sure he was being sarcastic right there. and i think your wrong about us grabbing cassel. he is gonna be way overpriced for what his actual talent level is. he might be a decent starter but he wont be worth the money he gets this offseason. no matter how many injuries you guys have on either side of the ball the combination of wes welker and randy moss are gonna make any qb look better than what he would look like with any other team in the nfl.
Nothing personal here, Vision, but I keep hearing this sentiment. Why is it so sad? A great football player retiring after a substantial knee injury? Isn't that incredibly common? Football player's get career-ending injuries. It happens. A guy like Robert Edwards, who never got a chance to see how good he could be? That's sad. All the minimum wage veterans with concussion-related psychiatric disorders? That's sad. Wayne Chrebet, introducing himself to the same person at his restaurant twelve times? That's sad. Tom Brady? Mother-fuck Tom Brady. Brady's had a great career, he's got his rings, he's got his first ballot HoF, he's got his dough and he's got Gisele. Little shit probably has a career in Massachusetts politics lined up, just waiting for him. I swear to god, if Tom Brady is on the presidential ticket in 2032, I'm blasting his punk-ass with my ray gun.
I remember all of the heart-felt condolences we got from Pats fans after Vinny tore his Achilles. All none of them. Fuck those shitdicks.
You should have heard 107.3 the day after. They wanted to send Parcells a teddy bear. They were all laughing it up. The Pats fans will never get any condolences from me. Fuck em
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. If the guy can play ball, who cares if he started a year with NE. Obviously I'm not sold on him and I'd rather we work with what we have, but if we picked him up it wouldn't be the end of the world.
They had some clip on NFL network last night about him supporting the team and working with kid and stuff. They interviewed him and he sounded so sad. I almost felt bad for laughing.
I wasn't comparing myself to Tom Brady. Look at Carson Palmer though - he hasn't been the same player since he messed up his knee. It happens...Brady is a player that doesn't like to get hit. The thought of being hit in the knee will always linger in his mind.
Does this mean you aren't comparing him to Carson Palmer now or that you don't know what "comparison" means?
I was being for serial. It's not like I want Cassell on our team, I'm just saying that NOT wanting him because he played a year for the pats is just silly. To further exemplify, I brought up Tom Brady, who does have a long track record against us. I still wouldn't mind having him on our team though.
I compared him to another good NFL quarterback with a similar knee injury. You're a real internet badass.
only Boston fans could be so stupid as to want to franchise Cassel after one good year and pay him as one of the top QB's in the league. he tore more than his ACL. if the guys knee is an unstable mess, there is the very reason why he wouldn't be able to play again. in case you haven't noticed, a QB has to do more than just throw the ball...like actually run and make quick moves -- two things an unstable knee can make quite difficult. I've seen it with people who have bad reconstructive surgeries.
I think the big story here - which we will probably never find out the truth about - is how bad the infection in Brady's knee was back a few months ago. Barring something unforseen, he will be back on the football field next year. He may never be the same again, but a guy who has enjoyed that much success doesn't just pack it in without trying a comeback. Even if his leg was amputated, he'd be out there on a peg leg trying to throw the ball.
