everybody is so spoiled from watching revis the past few years. not every corner is a god. remember we have no consistent pass rush either. its difficult to play corner for the jets. cromartie hasnt played as well as i thought he would, but he is not close to our biggest issue.
Trade that I think would be interesting... Cromartie for Asomugha straight up. They're both playing in systems that they fucking suck in, and nobody else would be willing to take on their mammoth contracts. I think its a win win for both teams, and gives the Eagles another special team guy to help save DJackson from another concussion
Not quite sure why Philadelphia would make such a trade when Cromartie's primary weakness is zone coverage and that is the style of defense that Asomugha is struggling with.
Cromartie played alot/mostly zone with the Chargers no ? And it seems like he never played alot of man until he came here
Why are we talking about trading for cornerbacks? Cornerbacks are like the cul-de-sac's on the edges of a mediocre defense. What we should be talking about is how to fix the fundamental flaws of not having a pass rush worth spit unless we blitz heavily and not being able to shut down the edge against a big fast tailback. I mean Jesus, has having Darrelle Revis made us all forget that great defenses are built from the inside out and front to back?
Probably because a trade like us going out and getting Mario Williams or Haloti Ngata is incredibly incredibly unlikely. Hell any trade other than a draft day/offseason trade is unlikely.
can we get lebron james... if he cant play maybe he can be the O.C ... he will probably do better than schotty
Do you honestly believe Eagles would trade Nnamdi for Cro?? Even if they did, which I don't think would ever happen, it'd be for him and a draft pick, I REALLY doubt they'd trade straight up for Cro.
And if we got Nnamdi Asomugha we'd just lose games on the ground because we've shown no ability at all to shut down the run when somebody really wants to run the ball. The Jets are allowing 135 yards a game on the ground at this point. They've lost two out of the last three games because they could not shut down the run. Trading for a cornerback is going to help that?
Well there is one huge reason why the Eagles would (and possibly even should) do that. They are locked into a HUGE contract for a TON of fricken money for a guy who is playing like absolute dog shit in their system. It lets them get off the hook for an absurd amount of cash (for a slightly less absurd amount of cash), and get a younger more athletic cheaper player who is a stud on special teams and has more experience playing in their system. And on the same page the benefits for us speak for them-self, allowing us to compensate for having one of the worst pairs of safeties in the nfl and further stacking the box to stop the run
Aso is better vs the run than Cro, and hes less of a liability in man further allowing us to stack the box
We stacked the box against the Raiders and Patriots at times and still got pushed back a lot. Cornerbacks just don't matter all that much even against modern NFL offenses. All they do is make the QB throw somewhere else or the opposing team run the ball down your throat. Once you have the run game solved and a good pass rush to prevent the QB from finding the open man then cornerbacks become really important but the Jets don't have the first two down this year. They could play God at both CB positions and they'd still lose games to deep passes over the middle and the opposing running game.
We woulda beat the Raiders, and easily beaten the Cowboys (they both torched the shit out of Cro). And hell Wilson is playing pretty decent, more than adequate to cover #3 wrs on his own. Where else would qbs throw the ball, to the tight end or halfback every single time ? Obviously its beyond doubtful the trade happens, but I personally think its a win win.
I'd be OK with trading Cromartie. Jets need LB and S. Cro for Laron Landry would be sexy. If there's a RT on the market that'd be good too but they're better off building chemistry with what's available at this point on the OL.
Why didn't we trade for Curry? We have the slowest LB core in the league and the Seahawks weren't asking for much. Not to mention BT is out for the season
I would LOVE for that to happen but there's absolutely no way it'll happen. I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong, though.
