there was no avoiding the DP possibility. If Arod steals second they DEFINITELY walk cano to face the double play machine names Posada. Thats my point that I said a few posts ago. So play manager now and answer honestly.....right now do you want Cano up with a chance at a fairly easy RBI but also the chance of a double play or do you want Posada up in that same exact scenario? Im goin cano bro
Define "play the Sox competitively." Because the Yanks could easily be 4-4 against the Sox this year. Or 3-5 at the very least. They've lost three one-run games, one two-run game, and had (a very different) bullpen implode in a crazy game with something like five lead changes. Yeah yeah yeah, I'm sure you'll just point out how they wound up on the wrong side of the win-column in each of those games, but that's not how this shit works. You're making stuff up. His velocity was fine (as I showed you), and his sinker was inconsistent, but down more often than up (as I also showed you)... and although he didn't go deep into the game - partly because he still isn't fully stretched out, and partly because they gave the Nats two extra outs in the fifth - he wasn't anywhere near as bad as you'd like to pretend he was. And all of this was on extra rest, no less. If this start happened in June 2007, you would have shrugged it off and moved on to the next game. To annoy you.
I'll take Posada with the bases loaded and an erratic pitcher on the mound over the situation we had. If I were the manager, there's not a single doubt in my mind I send ARod on the first pitch of Cano's at-bat.
Since the Yankees and Nationals have no common off-days they're going to wait out the weather. They're looking at a window of 3pm right now. I hate the unbalanced schedule.
all this rain is really disrupting sports today. The golf tournament has been in a delay for hours, and this game isn't going to be played until at least 3. Since there are no mutual off days, they're going to try to get it in, but who knows when.
They have to. Can you imagine not playing it now, then the game actually matters after the last game of the season for playoff spots? What sucks is that this is going to hurt Joba. I wonder if they'll wind up either only letting him pitch a couple innings before subsequent delays, or if they'll skip him completely. Who knows? Maybe we'll need Hughes and Coke today, and I'll give Girardi credit for making good decisions to pull each of them when I felt it was too early to do so last night.
Im no fat man supporter but the theory is kind of common sense...and he also said exactly what I said about sometimes you just have to hit the fuckin ball...you cant strategize yourself to a victory...this isnt football
yes. they have no mutual off days. they're going to wait it out and try to get the game in if at all possible, even if they have to wait around for hours.
that erratic pitcher threw like 8 strikes in a row to cano. So now youre telling me you want Girardi to strategize us into a game-tying walk? c'mon. Cano didnt get the job done. Had a good bat but failed. We lose.
One other note from the game last night: I've rarely seen anything funnier than Elijah Dukes' file photo on the gigantic board in the centerfield. He's so clearly blazed... I mean, come on Elijah, media day only comes once a year. Resist the urge to burn for like 20 freaking minutes! EDIT: Another High Dukes gem: To think that this guy is a professional athlete...after posting these I guess I better just hope Dukes never sees me ridin'

Chien-Ming Wang will remain in the Yankees rotation. Girardi caught a television re-broadcast of the right-hander's start following his five-inning outing on Wednesday, confirming what the manager believed he had witnessed from his vantage point in New York's dugout. "I thought he threw some really good sinkers," Girardi said. "His slider was really good last night. He mixed his pitches well. I thought he threw the ball pretty well. I just wanted to watch it on video to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing." Accordingly, Wang has been lined up to pitch Tuesday as the Yankees open a three-game series against the Braves at Turner Field, though that scheduling is subject to change depending on weather for Thursday's homestand finale. Wang had his best start out of five this season against the Nationals, though the end result was the same -- another loss, as New York fell, 3-2. He hurled a season-high five innings, allowing three runs on six hits while walking two (one intentionally) and striking out four, and was touched for a solo Adam Dunn home run and a Nick Johnson two-run triple. His ERA dropped from 14.34 to 12.65. "As I've said all along, this guy has won a lot of games and I don't think you forget how to pitch," Girardi said. "You do have struggles. This game is a game where you're going to struggle from time to time, and you have to find a way to fight your way out of those struggles." The decision keeps right-hander Phil Hughes in a relief role for the time being. Hughes had said that he felt ready to rejoin the rotation if needed, but said after Wednesday's appearance -- two scoreless innings of one-hit ball -- that he could also see himself spending the rest of the year as a reliever. "I'm just happy to be throwing the ball well and giving us some quality innings, whatever my role is," Hughes said. "I'm just thinking one day at a time. Things are going to stay the same unless I hear something different." Girardi said that even if Wang struggles against the Braves in Atlanta, for example, he is not on a short leash and should not worry about being yanked from the rotation. "I don't necessarily look at every time he takes the mound, if he doesn't have a good start, I'm going to say he's out of the rotation," Girardi said. "I don't look at it that way, because I expect him to do well. He's in our rotation." Bryan Hoch is a reporter for MLB.com. This story was
Stealing second with a runner on third is strategizing yourself to a win? Come on. And how many of the balls Cano fouled off were actually strikes? (Then again, that ump was terrible on the balls/strikes calls last night, so who knows.) The game was lost in a number of ways, that much is obvious. But to act like any event being changed wouldn't have had a chance to change the outcome is ridiculous.
Awesome. Wang is a starter for life and Phil Hughes resigns himself to permanent bullpen work. Fuck. Joe. Girardi.
my point is the Yankees were in a perfectly attractive scenario to win or tie the game. The execution last night, or lack therof, far out-weighed the lack of proper managerial moves. Your only point is that you wanted Arod to steal...great, we would still be in a double play risk position. Only this time with a slower, less hot batter. Wheres the gain???????
Nick Swisher is the man. Who agrees? He is not the prototypical Yankee, but thats one of his best qualities. He just has fun.
hes a fuckin retard and he made ANOTHER mistake tonight. This time on the base paths. I fucking HATE Nick Swisher
