largely because the NFC is sucking wind this year and the AFC has, thus far, been the superior conference this season. I mean the Steelers, who have been pretty god awful this year, have an identical record to the Jets but would miss the playoffs if they occurred today because they've won less conference games than the Jets. It's worth noting that, up until this point in the season, in the AFC the Jets Strength of Schedule is the 2nd weakest in the AFC, only the Bengals have had an easier SOS. In the NFC two teams have had a softer schedule than the Jets, the Panthers, the Cardinals (both current division leaders) and the Falcons, who currently miss the playoffs. in fact 4 of the 5 weakest SOS this year would be in the playoffs if they occurred today. I fear the NFL is quickly becoming a league of ineptness
to further make my point, of the 5 teams with the Jets SOS or weaker (including the Jets) only the Falcons aren't over .500 (they're 6-6) The Jets are 7-5, or basically 1 game over .500 (if they had lost one of their games they'd be 6-6) the other 3 teams with weaker SOS than the Jets are a combined 34-4. Two teams sitting at 10-2 and of course the Panthers at 12-0. The point being the Jets are barely swimming above .500 while the really good teams are destroying their weak schedules...except of course for the hapless Falcons.
Vegas expects us to destroy the Titans (+7) I actually have been winning with the Jets ATS this season! For the most part except for a few of our shitty losses The Jets I think are starting to show up and prove we are the better team on paper
The closer we get to this game the less nervous i'm getting. QB's are averaging a 101.6 rating on that defense and also allow the most first downs. Sounds like that's gonna work in our favor. Ground n Pound.. then hit em with the Fitz! ( i dont know i just made that up.. really was supposed to say play action lol). Also i'm expecting Revis to be back, so DGB will be silent, and TEs don't really do very well on us so I'm not expecting Delanie to kill us like he does other teams. 24-10 jets
At this point, we beat the Giants for the title of Team of New York. Even if the Jets lose the next four games, I feel like we already succeeded this year. If the Jets win this one and make a playoff run, great. If not, at least we have bragging rights for the next four years. That's all I really care about.
Your priorities as a Jet fan are a tad misplaced if you'd chose a win vs Giants over a playoff berth.
What is your point? We should be 12-0 instead of 7-5? We were a bad team last year and a growing team this year that is learning how to win when they have expectations. It is not how you start in the NFL it is how you finish. If the Jets get hot you never know what could happen if they suffer a couple big injuries and lose a couple more games we look forward to next year.
If they are the SOJs then they lose this game this weekend. If they want to shake that reputation they need to win this game. And this starting slow every game needs to stop for this last push for a playoff spot. Lets come out and play a full game start to finish in this one.
We out played the Bills and the Giants and kept both of them in the game with bad special teams and bad turnovers. If we want to make a run we need to shore up special teams and hold on to the football.
Actually no it's not at all. It goes both ways. You can't say the Jets haven't beat any quality opponents but don't take into consideration the reason they aren't quality is because they lost to the Jets. By your standards, the only quality team the Jets can beat then is the Pats. That's not the Jets fault who is on their schedule.
Man you are one pathetic Jets fan if a Giants victory and calling yourself only the Team of New York is all you want.
If the jets cannot defeat the titans and the cowboys in the upcoming games.then for sure they do not deserve to be in the playoffs.the real test for the jets will be against the patriots and the bills.
bragging rights? gives a shit about bragging rights over a team in another conference? it won't even be relevant past this season anyway. The title of team of new york isn't an endgoal, beating NYG is about as relevant as beating any other NFC; it helps us with our playoff chances but not as much as an AFC win.
Douglas probably burned Cro. Fucking bench him already. How many more hypothetical touchdowns is he gonna give up?
I understand where he's coming from. While I lived in NYC, I experienced the arrogance of Giants fans, and have seen many, MANY posters on Jets sites over the years talk about how work became living hell for them because of Giants fans. For people living and working in NYC it's not an unimportant issue.
