That Catapano guy, before he got hurt, seemed like he was making a difference out there with a bull rush. Looks like his issue is staying on the field (IR most/all of 2014 as well).

Coming out of college Davis was touted as a guy with speed and coverage abilities. I thought that's why he was drafted. He's actually slow as fuck and can't cover anyone anywhere.

I'll happily roll with Henderson in his spot next year.

Most of the linebackers in the league have a hard time covering TEs and RBs.....Which is why you need pass rushers so they are on them long enough to where they don't get open nearly as much when the qb gets sacked or forced into a throw he doesn't want to make.We haven't had a game changing LB in what seems like a century,Harris is good at what he does .....we need guys on the outside who can get it done, the d line can open plenty of holes

Spot on. How Macc proceeds with our MLBer situation will depends almost entirely on how Snacks plays out.

If we can keep Snacks, that opens the door to draft a leaner, faster MLBer than can fly to the ball and cover TE/RBs.

If we lose Snacks, then it's back to a hulking MLBer that can shed O-Lineman and make the tackle.

Let's hope Macc can find a way to keep Snacks on the roster.

Shouldn't be hard to replace him. I'm with many of you who wanted to like Davis but his play let us down. Those RB Wheel Routes will be burned into my mind for a long time.

Agreed, he's been no better than a 30 year old Bart Scott!

He was the guy I wanted pre draft; and we got him. I was so excited to see some speed at that position , something we hadn't had since a young James Farrior. What a disappointment DD has been for me personally. But...next man up

Henderson would be a stop gap. We need to draft a player in the 1st three rounds to be the future

he isnt slow, most of his tackles are him chasing someone down from behind. he lacks awareness, does not read keys and doesnt have fluid hips. in the nfl trying to play lb without those things is impossible no matter how big and strong and fast you are. awareness, ability to read keys and change direction are the most important things for a current day nfl lb.

Mauga was a pretty good STs player for us. Did he ever even get on the field on D as a Jet?

Based on how religious he is, crucifixion is a safe bet though it's probably not Macchio, but his doppelgänger Jesus.

James Farrior played outside linebacker for us (along with Mo Lewis and Roman Pfifer).

Bryan Cox and Marvin Jones were our ILBs.

Demario Davis can beat anyone, but anyone can beat Demario Davis.

    Someone said it

He has the tools but sadly he has that Kyle Wilson thing in coverage

I truly hoped and loved Demario but sadly he is missing something

TBH I dont think he ever played a down on D. The last year he was here there were some talks about his upside in the off-season, however he always had muscle injuries which prevented him from being a contributor.

Going back to Henderson's age (which some posters mentioned) he's turning 30 this year and has only been starting 3 years for Minnesota before coming here. Considering he also sat out 2014 for alcohol related issues he doesn't have a lot of wear and tear. I believe in 2013 he was considered up and coming. Harris is two years older (32) and at this point I would expect his career to be over before Henderson's. Not saying he is LONG TERM solution but in this league if you project as a 2-3 year starter you are a bit more than a stop gap, don't you think?

I agree. Henderson's age means he's no more than a medium term answer at best, if that. But two things. First is I still think OLB is more pressing despite Mauldin's promise. Second is and to be clear I don't think Davis is a flat out bad player. He is a disappointing player given what we thought he could bring. But he will go somewhere else, probably be overpaid, but still will play a good deal, and is nowhere near about to play himself out of the league. He just doesn't fit with the Jets, especially given cap concerns.
