Why does everything have to be so sensationalistic? Maybe he just didn't want to work for the current management and could get $4 million to do so? Of course not, that doesn't give anyone ammunition to criticize him.
Of course it does. BB resigned after one day facing either Johnson or Dolan ownership. And he had no guaranteed money. People can criticize whatever the hell they want.
What if we give him the benefit of the doubt and consider that he left buff because he has a personal code that if crossed, he walks. What's wrong with that? So far, he's getting 2 checks and he's happy with himself.
That's a reach....he thought more of himself as a coach than others did...and he quit to try to double dip...and he got burned....not for one second do I believe he quit thinking he wasn't going to land another HC gig....he didn't quit the bills head coaching job to be a position coach in Jax..... I wonder if Jags owner Shadid Khan wanted to hire Marrone to add some intrigue to the BUF vs. JAX game in London this year?
The only thing that could bring intrigue to that game is if both teams bring strippers as their cheerleaders. _
To be past over by six head coaching openings so he could land as OL coach in Jax...of course.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, I don't know if the Jax HC Gus Bradley is on board with this hire. Doesn't it put Marrone in a position to take over next year if the Jags start off poorly and they decide to make a change. He'd be the obvious choice to replace Bradley mid-season. But according to one article I just read Bradley was the one who hired him.
Why even demand that clause get put in your contract in the first place though? To me THAT'S the scummy part of this whole thing. It's partly the Bills' fault for agreeing to it but who the hell else has ever even had the hutzpah to even ask for a clause where they can get their full salary after a resignation?! Having an opt-out is one thing, but an opt-out with pay??? It wouldn't shock me if this maneuver blackballed him from getting another HC job in the league.
There is nothing wrong with that clause; that's just jealousy on your part to criticize him for that. The team was rumored to be sold; he signed on to work for the previous ownership and had no idea who his next boss would be or if he would want to work for them. That's an extremely understandable clause to include.
What would he be afraid of exactly, getting fired because of new ownership? Big whoop you still get your salary and coaches get recycled all the time. If he was that concerned about 'ownership' then don't sign there, or sign a shorter-term deal. Or sign a twenty-year deal with a opt-out where you aren't getting paid but are free to go elsewhere. Asking for an opt-out with pay is just flat greedy. The new owners should pay him for buying the team? What if they WANTED him to stay?
