For the cost of an upperdeck season ticket you can probably buy an 80" HD TV these days. Oh, and Woody mentioned yesterday in his presser that the Jets will not be blacked out..why would you even bring that up unless tickets are selling like shit? http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/15149/tickets-still-available-but-no-blackout
You're going to bitch about six bucks over ticket prices? According to a survey, for a family if 4, the cowboys are the most expensive team for a game day experience (tickets, parking and food). If you really care about ticket prices, move to Cleveland.
Math is not my strong suit, but I'll give this one a go. That's six bucks on the average price of a one-time admission in a stadium that seats 82,566 fans. That comes out to $495,396 more per game that the Jets are charging than the Giants. Six measly bucks per seat, right? And we're not even talking PSLs.
What's really sad is the fact they haven't even sold out this years home opener. The last two years everybody was upset that the opener was a night game and that the ticket prices were too expensive. This year we have a 1pm game with nothing but sun in the forecast and cheap seats to watch us take on the Bills and tickets still aren't selling! I have seen lower level tickets go for less than face value on EBay. What kind of fan base do we really have.
One that is very unhappy. I think Johnson realizes this and that is why he won't give Tannenbaum a vote of confidence. You think it's bad not to sell out the home opener just wait and see what happens if we get off to a bad start.
Well the NYGs have won 2 World Championships in the last 5 years & we have won zero in 43 years so maybe they are entitle a premium due to there achievements
Woody needs to make up for the lack of upper deck PSLs somewhere. And people thought they were getting some sort of deal when that news came out way back when.
I will say this, I understand that the market demands higher prices in NY but for a team that hasn't won shit in 40+ years is ridiculous. Oh and let's not forget this little thing too... I went to the Carolina Pre season game. First game I have been to at the new stadium. Tickets were only 5 bucks on stubhub but... we looked for parking and I was blown away that the parking was $50.00 fucking dollars. For a preseason game all the way out by freaking Zanadu or whatever the hell that shit is called. We ended up parking at the hotel across the street and took a shuttle. My guess is parking closer to the stadium would be much more then $50 bucks?
I couldn't believe it, maybe they give you a "deal" with season tickets. I live out West and don't go to any home games (all roadies for me) but it was out by the Izod Center near a parking garage. I think it was the "orange lot".
I'm one of the "stadium bashers" from the Jets Experience/ New Stadium thread and this doesn't surprise or bother me in the least. What would you expect from a NY team? They are right in line with the Giants, Pats, and Bears - other NFL teams in similar (if not equal) markets so I see nothing the gripe about. Now, we can gripe a lot about the quality of the stadium we got, and the PSL rates, but not the ticket prices.
This isn't surprising and to me this is not on the fan base. When you blow through a 50,000 name waiting list from 3 years ago and have trouble selling tickets now then you misjudged your market and mispriced your product. Top it off with views not as good for close to 30,000 seats or about 1/3 of capacity which is in the upper deck compared to the old place and it's no shock. Add in massive parking prices and concessions and a poor economy and who can blame fans for bailing. They built and designed the stadium with the idea that the market was a bottomless pit of revenue and that literally fans would pay any price to get in. That turned out to be wrong on so many levels and it's too late to change the design of the stadium so they are stuck with it for the next 40 years. I was there for the Cincy game on Thanksgiving and to me I prefer the old place with it's views. There were not too many bad seats in the house in the old place and they had it priced correctly for the most part
